  1. It's simple Home team Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Reed Travis Bennet Dack Armstrong Graham Subs: Goalie, Williams, Rodwell, Evans, Rothwell, Chapman, Brereton Away team Raya Nyambe Lenihan Rodwell Bell Reed Smallwood Armstrong Dack Rothwell Brereton Subs: Goalie, Williams, Mulgrew, Evans, Travis, Chapman, Graham Everyone in or around where they should play. No Bennet at six positions crap. Give younger lads the chance to just go for it away with home games being the more experienced team. Obviously when Lenihan is fit he plays. Williams stays on the bench and goes in the summer.
  2. They would play their best right back that's for sure. Think when you look at our defence it starts from the goalkeeper. He can save shots as well as most can but anything in and around the box to think about and he's crap. That bring panic to the defence which leads to more errors. Defenders, Nyambe should be playing every game. He's no finish article but if he was he wouldn't be playing for us. He does have pace, power and height so can be worked on. Centre halves, one of Lenihan or Mulgrew would drop to the bench for me. For me and it will go down like a lead balloon but Mulgrew drops out and someone like Liam Lindsey would be brought in. I like the defenders to try and defend first and Mulgrew will start to deteriorate soon. Left back I'd keep both Bell and Williams but with William's being 4th choice centre half. We should look to bring in someone like Jay Da Silva whose on loan at Barnsley at the moment. Goalkeeper is a tricky position because you wouldn't want another young goalkeeper. Someone with experience at this level even if it's for a season or two to play back up and step in when performances dip. Rodwell if he's signed would be a holding midfielder for me. Isn't a centre back and you can tell when he's defending. Let Smallwood go and put him into his role.
  3. I could buy into that if others like Raya. Smallwood and Bennet we're held to the same standard. Bennet was shocking against Swansea away. Brentford away and I think he played there against Norwich at home? But might be wrong with that one. It's not like we are putting rock solid players in who don't usually play that position.
  4. Don't know if your slating Brereton but I genuinely think he was our best attacker out of the three last night. Created a few chances. Drove through players. The only mistake he made was his chance in the second half. I called it at the 50 minute mark and knew he would come off first. I didn't agree with it then and still don't now. Not to be unpopular but Burnley a few seasons ago went up with basically a dangerous front two and a solid back four and goalkeeper. Rovers have a good front two. A workmanlike midfield but no solid back four or goalkeeper. Attackers win you games. Defenders win you titles. Sums the situation up.
  5. Controversial opinion but I'd sack Mowbray tomorrow and bring in the former Fulham boss if possible. This isn't due to any dislike but the fact we've been poor defensively for years and he's never even tried to address the problem. Even Pep sorted his defence out when he realised it wasn't good enough so style of football has nothing to do with the issue. Thanks for the effort and job so far and the gem signings like Dack and Armstrong but time to move on.
  6. He's had the funds and time to fix that though. He obviously cannot though. Either that or he's neglecting that part of the pitch which is just as bad. It's one or the other.
  7. Can't believe you can't see the poor defending week to week. Apparently the manager can't either and doesn't think it's an issue.
  8. One question to everybody. Why is Bennet starting as an out of position right back over our young but promising actual right back who is fully fit? Though Brereton had a good game. Only thing he messed up was the chance in the second half. Big improvement compared to recently. Dack looks 100% unfit and why not bring Travis off as he was absolutely knackered by 70 minutes. Don't think Mowbray a good manager I just think a lot of Rovers fans are that terrified of who Venkys could appointment instead that he's put up with. Bottom 6 manager for me.
  9. Fuck sake what a shit pass from Armstrong. Put the lad in proper
  10. Raya Rodwell Smallwood Mulgrew Bennet Travis Evans Bell Armstrong Brereton Conway
  11. Keep calm everyone. Thunderbolt football incoming from tinkermam Tony.
  12. 3-1 win. Brereton double. He's going to light the game up. Armstrong with the other. Bennet own goal.
  13. Lambert is a piss poor manager whose made his career off the back of a purple patch at Norwich where he got promoted twice. He's done nothing anywhere else.
  14. Rovers won't hit higher attendance figures unless they get into the premier league or there's a game with something genuinely riding on it like last year's last game. With trying to attract kids lets be honest I couldn't see many kids turning round and saying I'd rather watch Bradley Dack over a De bryne or a Pogba it isn't how kids work unless they are generation supporters who follow on from family. If Rovers want higher attendances. Invest majorly and get back into the premier league. There's very little other choices to that.
  15. Manager gets a 7/10 from me. Solid job but improvements can be made. Up to him to do them
  16. I'd hope something like that pisses the lad off that much that he'd be in the mindset to go out and prove the prats otherwise. He must have some mental strength to be a pro football player. Got a feeling that once he gets a goal he'll then start to step up. We've got two very young attackers in him and Armstrong with Dack bringing the star quality and Graham having that pedigree and know how. Still think Rothwell will add a lot as well it's just a case of it clicking or being allowed to click into place.
  17. To sum up our manager. Brilliant man manager almost like a father figure to some of the players and seems to reasonably control the owners But Very poor tactical manager and the game has started to progress past him. Better managers than him have struggled with some of the best in the game being found out so there's no embarrassment in it. I've respect for the job he's done but I'd have far more if he brought a really clever number 2 in to do the tactical stuff. Wasn't it Brian Clough who got found out at Leeds when he lost his number 2 in Peter Taylor? One had the presence and the other had the brain. Not that I'm comparing Mowbray to Clough as they aren't in the same league but that's the missing piece I feel. Like many I wouldn't want him sacked but I do want the club to keep progressing and this season has been a success playoffs or not but what happens next year? Top 10 again? Then the year after? All of a sudden a problem will develop which has happened before.
  18. He did fall on Travis. Playing him every now and then isn't developing a player. I'm sure Evans was unavailable for that game as well but might be wrong on that. You didn't answer my question though about Brereton. Guess we'll skim over that as it doesn't suit the argument. Grahams always been class since Lambert brought him in. Bennet runs around a lot but besides from his media duties isn't much use at this level. Evans plays when he wants which goes all the way back to bowyer. Conway is a busted flush at this level. Hardy call them improved? Raya seems to make the same mistake every 2-3 games which hasn't been fixed. Nyambe has improved but for some reason isn't being played now even when fit. Many were calling Bell a liability not long ago and Armstrong like I said has only started to step up in last few games. Again, everyone knew Dack was class.
  19. Okay then. You'll name Dack and Armstrong as a few who have developed. Everyone knew Dack was class in league 1 it was a no brainer. Armstrong has only just started to do okay recently. Before that he looked every bit of a league 1 player. Out of the starting eleven we've got Dack, Armstrong, Smallwood, Bell who regularly play who are his players. Reed was brought in but let's be real unless we went up he's not going to be here next year. Now look at players who haven't developed. Nuttal, Samuel, Rothwell, Gladwin, Whittingham, Caddis. The list probably goes on. Rodwell is still up in the air for me. Had a few decent games but nothing more. The guy has spent easily between 10-15 million. Now look at Brentford yesterday. They develop players properly. Travis he fell on. Everyone on here were after him in the team over Smallwood yet it took him bring suspended for the lad to get game time. I bet now next game Smallwood will be back in. Answer me this. If he's so good at developing players. Why this season has Brereton not been played up front when Graham has been injured? The guy played Dack up front in a false nine attempt. Come on get real.
  20. I personally think this lad isn't being managed right by the manager. He's not worth 7 million now but he wouldn't have played last year for forest at 18 if he had nothing about him. If the manager wanted a more ready made player then he should have bought one. I don't see Mowbray as the type to develop players. And he certainly can't change his tactics to suit new circumstances.
  21. Also get bets on now that Smallwood will replace Travis for the next game with Bennet staying at right back. You'll be printing money.
  22. Seen someone say. "We can't buy in January, summer is the time" can you tell that to Preston fans who brought in 2-3 players from league 1 who've had instant impacts. Also seen a few say "well we need premier league and ready made championship players" could you say Dack, Armstrong and Travis we're ready made championship players or Rodwell and Reed are premier league players? We could have easily looked at the best from league 1 in January and taken them due to a higher league standing and financial backing. For a manager to be somewhere two years and not sort a competent defence out is criminal. He's even had a full season in that amateur league 1 where it's kick and run football. Someone else has also got it right with the players. Where is this team spirit and right characters? Are they at home playing fifa and taking photos? They should be fucking happy on 10+ thousand a week. It's absolutely pathetic and some on here put up with it. Where's your will to win and get the best for this football club. This isn't a I deserve mentality it's a I want mentality. The fans hurt at the end of the day. The players come out with a "We'll go again" Again. The manager is playing this for the long term, but he could be sacked this time next year then we'll be in the mindset of oh if only we'd pushed on. Bought a centre back. Dropped the dead wood. Played our best right back and were good at defending. This isn't a negative rant it's someone whose seen this situation before and can't buy into these owners backing someone long term. We've had too many sudden decision moments of craziness that to me we had to take our chance this year. But we haven't.
  23. I wouldn't write this season off now. I'd still want to be competitive but I'd honestly like a lad or two from the youth setup brought in to get a task ready for next season. Seem a few mention Butterworth and Grayson I think it was. Sorry if thats wrong but let's get these lads in now and see how they go. If they do well it's two less positions in the squad to fill. Summer targets should be in defence and goalkeeper. Get a solid base and build from there.
  24. Genuine question. Who still backs Mowbray to get promotion from this league. Not this year but ever? We've got a bowyer number two manager who is okay at managing people but shit at managing tactics. If half this board can see our right back is getting destroyed then why doesn't the manager change it in game? On the right back. Bennet should never be ahead of Nyambe. He can't get up and down the pitch. Has no pace and can't defend. He's a runner. Nothing more. On Dack. Most would think his direct replacement is Rothwell during a game yet a 33 year old winger is brought on who shouldn't even be at the club but because he "keeps the lads in line" which is the managers job anyway he gets a new deal. Fuck the has been off. Couldn't cut it in league 1 so why in the championship? Sounds like Brereton did okay today. Was Graham injured or not because I'm waiting for a comment to blame the young lad for the collapse. Also I'm not impressed with this the owners want to back with money but I don't want to spend mentality. It stinks of self preservation of one's own job. "If I don't up expectations I won't get sacked" and the few individuals who will reply to this with stop moaning it's okay. Do one! Your blinded by a manager whose best assets is to keep the owners interested and the players in check. Said a few games ago as well at this week. He's just another bowyer. Also Norwich who many tipped to struggle are bossing the league because of good recruitment and good tactics. They are no bigger of a club than us. Might get more crowds but haven't spent as much as us this year. Last part but why can't a manager who is meant to be defensive and sets his team up so he only had 2 1/2 attackers for balance not be able to keep most games competitive. Anyone can get smacked in a 5-2 but we've done similar score lines multiple times this season. Again, not good enough.
  25. One thing everyone can agree on is if Brereton score 7-8 goals from now until the end of the season then all of a sudden he's worth 7-8 million. Football's a funny game you can be poor for 6 months. Have a very good month or two and everything becomes positive. At least he isn't Leon best number two
