  1. Not sure that we can say we have had more success - Sunderland have been Champions of England on 6 occasions, compared to our 3.
  2. It's better than that. 15 points from 9 games extrapolated over a season would mean 75 points from 45 games, with 75 usually enough for the playoffs but a draw or a win from the last game of the season should clinch it.
  3. I assume Adam and Ash are properly advised, in which case neither will be signing a contract of that kind.
  4. Overall with the decision to hold on to BBD we look to be in a pretty good place. In the end it is the owners' money and if they are passing up the £12m or so that is down to them - they seem indifferent to losing money on the club. I don't understand references to relegation; I don't think there is the slightest prospect of that. In fact I think promotion is more likely than relegation. Of the clubs without parachute payments we are currently highest in the table and with a reasonable run with injuries - especially to BBD - have as good a chance as any of getting in to the playoffs; in particular with the age profile of our squad being so young there is every likelihood of some players improving significantly over the course of the season.
  5. Rothwell hasn't kicked a ball all season, sitting on the bench is all that Nyambe is doing at Wigan, and when he is not being sent off Lenihan is "starring" for the team with the second worst defensive record in the division - so I don't think we would have been in a better position.
  6. We are the top team in the Championship of the 19 clubs that do not have parachute payments so I am baffled as to how you think Mowbray, Waggott and Broughton can seriously be thought to have given JDT a hospital pass.
  7. Yes, the criticism of the DOF for not giving interviews saying what is going on is ridiculous.
  8. Interesting to note from their posts that some on here know more than JDT about playing in that position.
  9. I think "never" is a bit extreme. Perhaps he might turn out to be that good; he's young enough to have a lot of improvement in him.
  10. Thanks. If so, obviously apologies to the poster I was responding to. Problem is that over the years there have actually been people who have made posts along those lines " worst manager ever" etc so you never quite know.
  11. Nonsense. He left the club in a better place than he found it. Kean did the opposite.
  12. His actual game time in the Championship - for a team who were relegated - is only equivalent to about 7 games so it is premature to say he has "failed already" at this level.
  13. Neither of the above have (a) actually signed for us or (b) at a fee equivalent to what was paid for Armstrong or Brereton. I have no intention of agreeing with the nonsense you post.
  14. Our criteria for a striker look pretty good based on the last 2 seasons. For 2020-21 Armstrong came second in the leading goalscorers in the Championship and in 2021-22 Brereton Diaz came third. But , hey, let's keep talking the club down, why don't we ?
  15. Why do you think that ? In his career he has either managed a Championship club with parachute payments - which is a big advantage - or a Premier League club battling to survive with lesser players. It is very difficult to say how good he is.
  16. It reduces the accounting profits of the VH Group but I would be surprised if Indian tax law gave a deduction against taxable profits in India for expenditure on propping up a football club in the UK - I would anticipate Indian politicians and public would be up in arms if they did.
  17. To be fair, I think the Trust continued with the annual payments until the Global Financial crisis of 2007-2008 and then were left with needing to support other businesses like airlines which desperately needed cash to stay afloat.
  18. 2 seasons in the Championship as manager and 2 promotions - hardly "bang average".
  19. The people saying "Venkys Out". Whilst they have been dreadful owners it's glib just to say Venkys Out without addressing who is going to take over, the terms that Venkys would demand on any sale, and the ability of the new owners to fund what still seem to be significant annual losses.
  20. That is pretty much what is happening. The last 4 years 2 of the promoted teams have been teams in receipt of parachute payments.
  21. And they say "the money we are going to raise by selling all the first team squad and raising money by renaming Ewood Park "The Totally Wicked Stadium" "
  22. What happens if they ask for the money they are owed to be paid back ?
  23. To be fair, I think it was Jack Walker easing off on the spending front which was behind it and was the reason for Dalglish ceasing to be manager.
