  1. What tax gets sorted by the sale of Armstrong ?
  2. How much money will the manager - whoever it is - have to spend? Who do you get if it is a nugatory amount ?
  3. Lets see what happens in pre season.
  4. If Barnsley are so efficient why did they let the contract of their best player Mowatt run down so that he has left without a fee ?
  5. A rewriting of history there. The overwhelming view on this board on his signing was that it was a good one.
  6. I think this is not new money. The money comes from India via a share issue by Venkys London and then put in the club as a loan. What has happened today is that part of the loan has been converted to share capital. This last happened in December 2015. No idea why they have done it but at least the balance sheet of the club will look better.
  7. It seems a bit silly to say we don't give our youngsters a chance when we have just won an award for playing more home grown players than any other club in the division.
  8. I was all ready to post my report on the manager until I read what you said regarding his departure so thought it best to wait. Obviously, trusting your good self is not a mistake I should make again. Regarding the season just finished clearly a big disappointment. Despite what some have said, there was improvement on the defensive side of things - 54 conceded compared with 63 and 69 in the previous seasons. Problems arose though with scoring when the opposition set themselves up to be difficult to play against - either when the game was goal less or they were a goal ahead. Whilst we had a superb record when scoring the first goal - almost always going on to win the game - if we didn't get it we found it difficult and that happened far too often. I put that down to the possession style of play that was adopted. The manager clearly does have responsibilty for that decision and the often poor execution of that style - endlessly passing the ball in short and backward passes is not what it is supposed to be. Mowbray is one of the older breed of managers and I am not sure he and his staff really understand how to implement this style. It reminds me of the middle aged dad trying to dance to hip hop music at his teenage daughter's party - he thinks he knows all the moves but doesn't quite get it right. What to do now ? My answer depends on the budget that will be available. If there is a significant budget then I would want Mowbray moved on and "someone else" brought in. However even if Armstrong is sold I suspect the budget will be limited and in those circumstances I can't see any point spending money getting rid of the manager and his team; I can't see the likes of Wilder etc being attracted to a club with limited resources in the transfer market, and that's before we get on to the idiotic owners.
  9. I'll have a bet none of them get promoted.
  10. We are going to see them all back in the Championship next season where they belong. The days of "Warnock gets you in the playoffs at least " are over.
  11. Hang on. Wasn't it you and one or two other "experts" who told us that you had been told that would have happened by now ?
  12. I have consistently said that posters on here significantly overestimate the appeal of the Rovers job to in demand managers like Cowley as long as the present owners are in situ.
  13. EFL have confirmed that all 3pm kick offs will be changed
  14. I hope you know posting your stupid suggestion is against forum rules.
  15. This is obviously very good news. Quite how the change of heart will have come about is not clear at the moment. This won't be a popular suggestion but is it possible that Tony Mowbray objected to the proposal on the grounds that it was going to make team preparation harder and the Raos then listened to him.
  16. I have no intention of smearing anyone. I responded to what I thought was very unfair criticism of Ben Benson. Good old Johnno gets a free pass on here because he is a popular former player whereas Benson is not. But I can see no reason for getting rid of Benson.
  17. Flattered, old boy. Let's hope we are still in the Championship which sadly is not a given.
  18. I think Benson has been coaching at the club since 2015 so is no longer a novice. Good old Johnno may have been a decent player but he is listed as being the Technical Coach and Head of Player Development so can hardly be absolved from responsibility for the disappointments on the pitch - if only he had been as successful as Ben Benson.
  19. I think you are the only person who truly believes Nyambe to be "top class" which I would define as being the sort of player who the top 6 or so clubs in England would be interested in. I'm going to post my views on Tony Mowbray after the final game of the season.
  20. Yes - and Bill Belichick, the most successful NFL coach in history, never played the game after the age of 23.
  21. The problem with your sort of argument is that Benson can never win - if the player he coaches does well then apparently it is all down to the player. Noboby is going to tell me you would use the same argument if Benson was a popular former player like "good old Johnno".
