  1. Health and freedom debate aside, I was assuming that more fans would be willing to attend with the passports than would be lost due to them? I'm assuming a certain % of the population will still want to join in but be cautious too. It would be a mess if Ewood had to close again over winter.
  2. Yes they do. If a group of people are vaccinated, the virus can't continue to circulate within the population. It's a political decision supported by science. The UK or any segregated population of people will be fine when a certain % of people are vaccinated. Just like with polio and measles. There will be community immunity soon, followed by herd immunity when the whole UK has reached this level. The whole World is a different issue. Time scale: more like years than months, but depends on how the virus and vaccines evolve. Giving over freedom is surely too far, it's only flashing a QR code whilst entering the turnstiles!? Unless by freedom you mean you are barred from going into crowded areas because a) you don't want to be vaccinated and b) you don't want to be tested. I suspect these measures won't be need when an area has fewer than a certain number of cases per 100 000 people. Germany uses 10 at the moment.
  3. you are 100% correct, it shouldn't, but in an ongoing pandemic it's probably the best way to have maximum attendances. Ability to take part is dependent on being either not infected or vaccinated. I agree with the slippery slope and in theory a flu pandemic (last one was 1918) could Iin theory lead to similar actions- although hopefully not! The current vaccines are working brilliantly against the current variants. I think you are 66% less likely to become infected and roughly the same in infecting someone else. True, however if everyone is vaccinated (or approx 90% of society with SARS-CoV-2) then the chain will be broken. I agree vaccination should be a personal choice. Scientifically it makes sense, it's just what each society and country wants to do.
  4. I think it's a good idea, but only if free tests are available for the 10-20% who have decided not to get vaccinated. You can easily argue that the minor inconvenience of an extra 30 mins for choosing not to get vaccinated is morally acceptable. Will also make economic sense with fewer people isolating and not attending matches/working, plus more cost effective for the NHS. People unable to be vaccinated should initially be classed as vaccinated, but encouraged to get tested. This should allow everyone to attend and create a safe environment. Maybe more people will attend if they know their neighbours who they are rubbing shoulders with during the game are also less likely to infect them. Even though I'm fully vaccinated, healthy and youngish, I wouldn't want to be in the middle of the blackburn end at the moment. Would be Riverside for me like the good old days :-)
  5. Nice kit. If it's not 50 quid I will get 1 or 2. Odd to get Armstrong to model it if he will leave before he actually wears it....
  6. Season tickets prices are OK, but walk on prices are a bit steep. If/when I can travel and make it back to Ewood I would pay 36 quid for a ticket. But this is more of a novelty/special occasion. If I was living locally and didn't have a season ticket, I probably wouldn't pay that much for a ticket. Maybe I've been spoilt by German prices. Should have a membership costing 20 per season (or 2 per month!?), which knocks off 10 per ticket. Membership gives additionally benefits eg 10% off food, drink, merchandise etc.
  7. If I'm honest I've never heard of Chima Okoroji. I asked my mates who have seen him play and they said that he's young (24!), with potential. Would be interesting to see how he gets on in England. 2nd division here is of a lower quality than the Championship... Schalke may have a few interesting players though. Although currently injured, Nabil Bentaleb would be a good option for midfield. A better experienced left back would be Bastian Oczipka. Also shame Huntelaar has just retired :-(.
  8. I quite liked it, but at the same time it should never be make again. As a one off it 'special'. Red and black stripes would be nice
  9. Thanks, yes I've never had a problem before. Just seen that the L and XL sizes of the home shirt are now sold out :-(. Guessing they won't get restocked again now.
  10. Any idea why I can't pay for my shopping on the online roverstore? I'm living in Germany and trying to pay for something using my German visa credit card. Do any other overseas fans also have this problem?
  11. Genki haraguchi will leave hannover 96 in the summer. He's a good attacking midfielder who will want more than 10 000 a week (that's hannover's wage ceiling and one reason why he's leaving). He would be a very good experienced attacking midfielder who would be upper championship level and available on a free. https://www.transfermarkt.com/genki-haraguchi/profil/spieler/79377
  12. I'm going to try to watch it. I'm still behind Mowbray, but I've only managed to watch 2 games this season. A one sided victory against PNE and a rather frustrating 1-1 against Sheffield Wednesday. Maybe my view will change after watching a third game...
  13. Great goal. Douglas and Ayala mess up partly due to them not playing together regularly. That's being kind to two professional defenders and leaders though.... Surely we will be more adventurous and get a goal or two in the second half
  14. I will be watching today's game. It'll be my 2nd, with my first being against PNE. Almost the strongest first 11 that we could select and we've had a weeks rest, so I'm hoping for a comfortable 2-0 win.
  15. I played at a decent youth level, but never at an academy. I was playing for 3 youth teams at one point before I left to study abroad. Highest level I've played at in Germany is the 7th league (where money starts to play a role). The best team on paper that I ever played for was made up mostly of U19 bundesliga players. About half are currently playing in the 4th division (where you play but also have a part time job), but a couple are playing in the 2nd league now. One of them scored 5 goals in a game once, but it was in the 8th league... Still gets double figures per season though. The best team that I ever played for had a great young manager who got us promoted from the 8th to the 6th league, and almost the 5th. Lots of tactics and video analysis, but you almost felt like you were a cog in a machine. Completely different to the environment I grew up in. I left before the last promotion as I was getting older and was no where near good enough to have a starting position in this league! Great times and memories. Edit: Personal highlights would be winning a play off final in front of 800 fans and playing against Hannover's version of Jamie Vardy, Hendrik Weydandt. Although I didnt know that he would go on to play for Hannover at the time
  16. Quite enjoying this so far :-). Think Elliot and maybe Chapman coming on towards the end will kill it off. See what the first 10 mins of the second half brings
  17. My first game watching on ifollow today. Hoping for an eventful game and of course a rovers win. Looking forward to seeing how we actually play instead of just watching 2 mins of highlights. 2-0. Brereton and a Warton header.
  18. Baba used to be great for Augsburg before Chelsea paid a lot of money for him. I had to check what he's been up to since and he's been loaned out a lot but hardly played. Guessing lots of injuries
  19. I saw that someone mentioned the ex hannover full back Miiko Albornoz. As a player he would not be an improvement on what we have. Was hannover's weak leak in one of the worst defences they have had since I moved to Hannover. He likes to hold onto the ball and dribble his way out of trouble. 60% of the time it works....
  20. I'm assuming if Kaminski can prove that he hasn't left his 'bubble' and returned negative tests then he should be allowed to join a new 'bubble'
  21. Holger Badstuber has just been told by Stuttgart that he is free to leave. 31 years old, had injuries but now seems fit. Centre back, but can also play left back or even defensive midfield. Very experienced with Bayern and Germany. Wouldn't be a bad choice
  22. There are quite a few German clubs interested in him. Hamburg (2nd division- did a Nottingham Forest at the end of the season and somehow didn't get promoted) and Union Berlin (1st division not wealthy) Berlin may only want him if they sell one of their strikers though. He almost single handedly saved his team from relegation last season and the article says he's weighing up his options. Price seems to be around €3-5 million and his team need to plug a €4 million corona-induced hole in their finances so would be willing to sell. And the quotes were lifted from the Karlsruher local paper which I've never heard of... so I have no idea if it's a reliable paper or not.
  23. Zieler almost gone to Cologne on an initial loan. Apparently they are only paying half his €600 000 per year wage!
  24. Little update from yesterday. Now been confirmed that Zieler and Marvin Bakalorz, plus Felipe (old defender) and Prib (current captain, midfielder) will train with the hannover reserve team and will leave the club. I would take Zieler and maybe Prib
