2022/2023 Pre Season Thread

On the whole Swedish top flight football is pants. Littered with mistakes and many games played on plastic pitches. Most of the best Swedish born talent plays elsewhere in Europe and the stand out players here tend to be foreign born. A lot of middle Eastern players here. Just a few days ago I watched Norrkoping v Malmo... Poor fare tbh. -
Celtic v Rovers UEFA Cup tie 2002

The Dingles were seriously outnumbered. I think the attendance was around 27,000 and more than half that were celtic fans. I remembered the morning after at school and a few of my mates turned up black and blue. Celtic fans still in Burnley residents back gardens the day after. And I may add, I can remember a photo of what tools the celtic fans brought down on the train.... Truly horrific. As a side note, my best mate presented the match ball to the referee that night.... Pat Partridge. Jodrell post re the fencing getting getting ripped up is spot on.. Used as spears by those celtic idiots. Can't compare dingles v celtic those days. -

Ask any dingles fan who attended the 1977 ( I think) Anglo Scottish Cup final at Turf Moor. I'm sure they will disagree. Utter bedlam that evening. -
Celtic v Rovers UEFA Cup tie 2002

Although we played pretty well during the first leg and didn't deserve to lose to a sucker punch of a goal, we did not score. Second leg we were not at the races and celtic did a job on us. They were deserved winners in the end. One clown jumped out the BBE run the entire length of the pitch, stood in front of 8000 celtic fans and took his top off to reveal a Rangers shirt....... What a "not right" he was. -
They, Norway, made short work of Northern Ireland and were supposed to be a lot stiffer opposition for England. After watching Englands first performance against Austria I was a bit worried but the girls played very well tonight and I'm proud of them. The only teams I've seen, and I've watched every game, who will do well are us, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, France and maybe Spain.... Iceland are dark horses for me and I hope they go far for their fantastic travelling support....... And they have a very fit lass playing for them.... Gorgeous lol!

It wouldn't surprise me if we sign the Swedish chef from the muppet show. -
Supposed to be behind closed doors as punishment for the trouble at the euro finals. However, 3000 school children have been allowed to attend.

Saka shit.

Can't seem to get 2 hands on the ball. And he almost made the same mistake a bit later unlike his opposite number Nauer. Not good enough for international football IMHO.
-
Didn't deserve the draw. Rubbish.
-
Get Pope in goal if he's on the bench. Pickford overrated IMHO.

Doesn't mean so much now but I thought he was outstanding v Bournemouth away. Probably our best away win of the season. -
Wasn't there some unsavoury incident during the 70s where a Burnley supporter was knifed outside turf Moor whilst rovers were visiting? Im sure the hatred between us and Burnley began around that time and I can still remember being at school in the 70s in rossendale. Most were Burnley fans Iirc. Unless you were from the Haslingden end of the valley. Most Burnley fans hated rovers even then.

I know where you are coming from mate but alas, none of the grounds you want to host England matches or finals or semis have the capacity of Wembley. Money talks and the FA takes. Plus they dictate ticket prices. As an aside, I've never been to the new stadium ( only visited on the outside), the area around there is unrecognisable to when I last visited v Leicester. Spent a few nights in the cannabis towers Hotel there whilst taking my wife and her kids on a London tour. Fucking dump of a place IMHO.

Sort the collar out and add a few bits then maybe.

Problems at Port Vale v Swindon also. Swindon players assaulted after the penalty shoot out and the inevitable pitch invasion. Sad times for our sport. -

I'll be blunt here, very blunt. Total disrespect from younger folks mixed in with drugs and alcohol. Mainly drugs.... UK is rife with it and its not going to get better any time soon. Fucking morons who deserve a shite life. -

Villa equaliser -
Plus that goon ( brave or stupid ) who jumped out of the Blackburn end , ran the full length of the pitch and faced the Celtic fans only to reveal he was wearing rangers shirt. Plus there were some proper idiots Darwen end of the Riverside that night. Not Celtic fans I may add.

I agree. But have a feeling that if the Frankfurt turn up as they did to outclass West Ham, Rangers will get mullered. Hope I'm wrong.

And Wigan and Rotherham automatic promotions. Kind of suggests that both Sunderland and Wednesday aren't that good yet. Wouldn't surprise me if Ainsworth takes Wycombe up again. That said, the championship would be a better place with both Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday in it.
