  1. We're likely candidates for relegation as-is. Without Sammie, it's nailed on.
  2. In the main, supporters react to what they see on the pitch. I reckon it will all blow up up again after a few games in. The transfer window will be a disaster. we'll likely sell a combination of Sammie/Tronstad/JRC/Carter... to pay the milkman, we'll get another thumping off the Dingles and Nobbers, then come October time when everyone is pissed off and we're in the bottom 3, Ewood will awaken.
  3. It's a can kicking exercise now. My guess is that the club will plod on for as long as it can living off transfer proceeeds, the August hearing will quietly get pushed out, thus giving the owners an 'excuse' not to stump up any more dosh. Rinse and repeat for as long as they can, milking what they can. At some point in time, the well will run dry though, and we'll be in the deep stuff.
  4. I've seen all of the Spain games; they are a joy to watch and poles apart from the mundade English style in the entertainment stakes. Having said that and despite argubably having a favourable draw, if England manage to get past the Netherlands and beat Spain in the final, then it will be deserved, no question. 'You can only beat what's in front of you', as the adage goes.
  5. I vaguely remember the Boxing Day game in 1977. What I remember is that I couldn't see a thing! I would have been 11 at the time, went with my Dad and managed to get on the Longside. I ended up on the shoulders of some guy stood in front.
  6. All the ref needed to do was apply some common sense, or worst case, check with the Accy manager. Anyway, as in the last couple of seasons, it was a good afternoon out, and a pleasure to watch some live football again.
  7. Getting some desperate cash for either Leo or Pears, and promoting Hilton or Eastham, has always been the plan IMO. They'll try and justify it as 'career pathways'.
  8. Instead of 2x60 minute games, it will now effectively be 2x45 minute games. Not much difference really. I've attended this for the last couple of seasons. It's a decent afternoon out, and a reminder of what a proper club looks like.
  9. I used to love watching Busquets, he made the game look so simple. Rodri is cut from the same cloth.
  10. Which would make no commercial sense given our financial plight.
  11. Or just rip down the one next to it 😀
  12. This year's Tour starts on Saturday. I for one can't wait. It's great sport.
  13. Whoever we play from hereon in, we'll have to seriously raise our game. Having said that, I think we'll run out easy winners tonight. Beating weak teams is what we're good at. Hopefully it will spur us on.
  14. Hypothetically, should England ever appoint a non-English manager and somehow manage to win a tournament, those throwing their arms in the air over 'the England manager should be English' would soon go quiet I'd wager.
  15. True, but the signs of which teams might win the pot are.
  16. I watched the Spain game last night. They're several steps ahead of us and entertaining to watch, especially with those two wingers they have.
  17. It's half a 'job done', more like. Teams with any aspiration need to be coming out of the group stage with confidence and momemtum. We have the opposite.
  18. This thread is beyond depressing. I only renewed our ST's 3 days ago and I'm regretting it already!
  19. What does it matter where he's based? All that actually matters is that he does a good job, on which he's failed miserably.
  20. I got round to renewing our two tickets on Sunday morning. That website though, Christ alive it's bad. It took me half an hour to get rid of the 400 errors. I'm a software engineer, so at least I have half a clue. Anyone less tech savvy would just give up.
  21. I agree with you here. The walking football we seem to revert to absolutely bores me to tears. Any side that plays more in our faces and with more physical agression, we'll struggle against.
  22. Yup. He was a very clever footballer.
  23. ...which in Waggot logic, will be used to validate the argument that reducing prices has no positive affect.
  24. IMO this is exactly what will happen. Any money received from Leo will simply disappear per the Wharton money just to keep the lights on. The argument/spin will be that we're no worse off and opportunities are being given.
  25. Portugal are the dark horses for me. I watched England for the first time in ages last night. Crikey, that was a dull watch. I think I saw someone earlier refer to it as 'walking football', which is exactly what it was.
