v Preston North End (h) - 10/11/23

I think the corner drills are all about maintaining possesion. As you say, the trouble is - and we saw this a couple of times last night - is that we end up with 3 players around the ball near the corner flag, we go and lose it, the opposition breaks quickly, and we're caught on the hop with said players out of position. -

That was a cracking game of football which neither side deserved to lose. The simple fact of the matter is that we have a paper thin squad. That's what's lets us down. -

As with any successful professional in any walk of like, if an offer comes in from elsewhere that he feels will enhance his career, he'll be off. This won't be too far into the future and he won't be struggling for options. -

Could you get a Now TV subscription for the day? That's what I do for away games that aren't on the red button/RoversTV (in the UK). £11.98 -

They'd all probably say that about each other. Anyway, it's just my opinion on Tronsadt, being the no-nowt punter that I am. -

I thought it passed him by to a degree, as it has in previous games IMO. I can't recall more than a handful of occasions when his name was mentioned. I only saw it on the tele though; perhaps in the flesh there was more to him. Don't get me wrong, I thiink he's decent. But 'excellent'? Not for me. -

I think I'm on with own re: Tronstad. All this mention of him being 'excellent', I just don't see anything more than as you say, a 'water carrier'. A slighly better version of Evans, IMO. And certainly no better than Travis at all. He hardly got involved today, the games just seem to pass him by from what I see. But what do I know, and who cares, cos we won 🙂 -

All 3 goals have been top drawer. I'm no Dolan fan at all, but hats off to him today; he's been terrific -

Our defence is on it's last legs, we're without the energy of Szmodics, and out frontline is iffy to say the least, My heart says we'll nick something, but my head says home win. 2-0 to the Canaries. -

You never think that we might lose a game every now and again? Interesting. -

Do you ever predict us to actually lose a game? 🙂 -
I work in Manchester and have a few mates there who are ST holders at Utd. I certainly have no affection for Utd, but at the end of the day, like us, they have seen their club ripped apart because of terrible owners. These lads are genuine, local fans, not the Sky Sports brigade, who follow Utd home and away, so I do have some sympathy.

It would take Hedges forever and a day to score from the corner flag with his right foot ... -

Tomasson certainly rated Wharton enough last night, keeping Hill at RB and replacing Hyam with Wharton like for like. -

I think we're due a home win and am expecting a scrappy 2-1. It won't be anywhere near as easy as the cup game the other week. Let's see if Tronstad really is 'up to speed' after managing one decent game thus far, and whether Dolan really can 'lead the line well'. -
I read an article in the Mail on Sunday today (I know, I know) regarding the 3pm TV blackout we have. It appears that PL clubs are wanting the blackout ban lifted come 2029 when the TV deal expires. Their 'argument' is that, as attendances are growing, there are vast numbers of supposed 'fans' who can't get match tickets and can only watch live games on illegal streams. It's obviously nothing to do with owners trying to milk more and more money out of the game through TV rights..... The financial gap between the haves and have-nots will just get bigger and bigger.

I'm not saying that we shouldn't have signed a goalkeeper to replace Kaminski. Absolutely we needed to. Let's not forget, though, that Kaminski was Tomasson's second choice behind Pears. I question whether we need to spend the majority of our budget on a reserve; we could have got one far cheaper.
