  1. It's one thing Mowbray talking and coaching players behind the scenes in order to improve them. That's his job, after all. It's something completely different to then criticise them in public.
  2. I don't see why Edun/Pickering/Nyame couldn't swap sides at a push. The principles of full back play are surely the same, irrespective of which side of the pitch is being defended. Argubly easier to do this, than ask a centre half to play at full back.
  3. On our day we do have a pretty good team. The trouble we have is that our days only come around on average once every 4 games.
  4. We never hear any words of ambition coming from either Mowbray or Waggot. It's all guff like 'journey', 'we'll see where we are...' wishy washy nonsense. A manager worth his salt would say something like 'I expect that in 2 seasons we'll be in the top 6' A CEO worth his salt would say something like 'The plan is to have 12k season ticket holders next season' Of course they never say anything of the sort, for the simple reason that they're on easy street. The worse bit about it though, is that they're allowed to get away with it.
  5. Yeah, I suppose Brentford might be a good move. They tend to improve players. Bournemouth though. That shows just how far we've fallen.
  6. I'm not so sure, Chaddy. He's not Premier League standard, so playing in front of 50k every other week with guaranteed european games is about as good as it will get for him.
  7. I had the very same flashback!
  8. After a poor standard first half, that was a decent win in the end. Why Mowbray can't just stick to that formation, one that seems to suit the players the most, I'll never understand.
  9. The £20m is not an investment, as there's no return on it.
  10. Pickering out & Travis doubtful according to El Mog
  11. Two teams coming off the back of poor results. Stalemate. 1-1.
  12. If for no other reason, we need a change of manager simply for change's sake. The whole thing is stale and the fans need a shot in the arm, something new to believe in.
  13. No one on this board did say that Rovers spent £85k, did they? It was a hypothetical coversation. So what on earth are you going on about?
  14. I've done a quick calc of the points we've amassed over the last 46 league games, or the equivalent to a full season. This comes in at 56 points, one less than what we finished up with at season end. 56 points would have placed us in 15th last season, exactly where we ended up. I also totted up the points amassed since the start of last season's death spiral, starting on 6/2 ironically with a 1-0 loss at QPR. In total, we've played 33 games since then, gaining 35 points. Extrapolating that over 46 games, we'd end up with 48 points. Last season that would have placed us in 20th place, just 5 points safe from relegation. I accept that we can fit statistics to suit any narrative, but this to me is clear evidence that we're regressing. It has to be turned around, or relegation will become a reality sooner or later.
  15. That's my fear. Unless the club acts quickly, we're in the mire. I genuinely think we'll go down unless something drastic happens.
  16. I read a post - last night I think it was - likening Mowbray to someone playing Career Mode on Fifa. This is so true. It's as if he thinks he has a real-life games console, trying to be clever, swallowing the trivial stats, and going from game to game picking random formations and player positions. It's beyond a joke, it really is.
  17. Spot on. All 4 of the summer loans look poor to me. A total waste, based on what I've seen so far.
  18. Players were fatigued, he says. I don't buy that at all. Aside from Brereton, they've all just had a fortnight off!
  19. I don't think it's too much of stretch to say that we could get relegated if he stays much longer. The club needs to take action now.
  20. Is that 6 changes from the side which started against Coventry? Jeepers. Anyway, COYB.
  21. Waggott's get out of jail card for a bumper crowd for the Sheff Utd game, could be with the visitors rather than with our latent support. £14.60 could well prove very tempting for a big travelling support. I've got City/Utd mates at work who always enjoyed coming to Ewood. It's an attractive away fixture.
  22. The competition will benefit Nyambe (or whoever) in terms of salary more than it will benefit Rovers in terms of transfer fee.
  23. There will be once clubs realise they can get him for a song.
  24. My take on attendance figures: Attendances are generally dictated by 2 factors; success on the pitch and price. When the team is playing well, price becomes less important as people like to watch and be associated with a winning team, and so are prepared to spend on it. When the team isn't playing so well, price becomes more important. For where we are now, price is the overriding factor. I personally don't see charging £14.60 - or whatever it is - massively impacting the gate. IMO, it's not low enough to make that much difference. ie for a lot of people, it's still not cheap enough to entice them into paying to watch a mediocre side.
