Goalkeeping standards deteriorated
Upside Down replied to Comfortably numb's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
"Modern" tactics are responsible not only for a downgrade in goalkeeper quality but a downgrade of every position and the whole game really. That's the Pep influence right there. You used to have proper strikers. Their main job was to score. Proper defenders. Thier jobs were to stop the attacks. Proper goalkeepers. Stop the ball going in the net. Now you just have 11 average midfielders whose only real qualities are fast passing with good control and some decent positioning. Jack of all trades master of none the lot of them. The one thing all these pound shop peps seem to forget is that Pep has always had near unlimited amounts of money to build his squad. Guardiola has himself said that he couldn't do what he does without huge budgets. Look at Haaland as an example. Yes, he's world class, but I think a lot of his success comes from modern defenders not knowing how to deal with a traditional centre forward. They've never been taught how to deal with that. Put him in a side in the 90's, he'd still be great, he's a top class player, but he'd not be the phenomenon he is now. Short corners - Only effective when you hit them long 95% of the time. Passing out from the back - Unless you're a world class side, just don't. Keepers punching the ball instead of catching - Was, is and always will be complete and utter dog shit. Should never be done unless in an emergency. -

Pleased to see that war criminal Henry Kissinger has finally died. Sad to hear about the rest. Amazed Shane McGowan made it to 65.

Wonder how many will get that one -
Well there's this or starters https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/sep/22/i-had-to-leave-concerns-raised-over-state-of-uefa-amid-cronyism-claims Then there's allegations that the vice president is involved in drug trafficking, has been involved in match fixing etc... All of these organisations are rotten to the core.

Safe Standing at Ewood - Consultation
Upside Down replied to Miller11's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As far as safe standing conversion, I would make the whole lower tier of the Blackburn and Darwen Ends standing. Even the notion of this being crowdfunded is absolutely fucking disgusting. What about our "honourable" "generous" "billionaire" owners? Wouldn't the cost of this work be "crumbs to them"? Crowdfunding like we're a none league club. If only we were half as well run as any none league club. Fuck off venkys. Scum. -
This sounds familiar What winds me up is he looks like he’s doing us a favour being here. Sitting down with his arms folded up, never smiling. I’m not asking for someone to do cartwheels but honestly he’s so negative in every interview. Reply

Glad that Leonard got his goal. But we really shouldn't have needed to score a fourth, that should have just been a bonus. Really need to learn how to close out a game. Better teams will not give us a chance. -

Great to see this is already looking like a huge success and we're a month away still. Just more proof (as if it was needed) that releasing tickets early and pricing them appropriately will lead to bigger attendances. Hopefully the fan takeover can continue to spread. Today match tickets, tomorrow season tickets (optimistic I know), then the world. -
They will go along with the charade until it comes time to actually do something physical. Then watch the excuses roll in. Crowdfunding? Fuck off. Our owners are supposedly billionaires. I'm not knocking safe standing, I wish it had been a thing when I was going to Ewood. IMO they should make the whole lower tier of the Blackburn End standing. I did also fill out the survey. I have absolutely no faith in anybody that runs anything at the club. They have proven time and time and time and time and time again to be liars.
