  1. Good luck to JRC was a good squad man for a spell but clearly slowed up by injuries. Sensible signing for a few hundred grand for a newly promoted club he seems like a good pro to have around the place.
  2. It ain't Mercers fault the 'nearly there' talk has been doing the rounds all week but they'll have known full well serious bids were imminent. As most of us were expecting.
  3. Ah the old was just about to agree a contract but..... All being orchestrated but the hold up on his pre signed replacement has spoiled the window dressing.
  4. When we signed Tronstad, Siggy, Hyam and Brittain it was arguably less or similar in fees than now but much bigger wages and was clearly more a statement of intent than this summer, unarguably. There's clearly a couple of million to invest in low first instalment fees and a commitment to the 'deal up to' add on's should the players reach them. What we are seeing is V's doing as they usually do and allowing a new gaffer some signings with some proceeds of previous sales. In reality though it's all about the wage bill and fitting as many lower paid development players in there as it can handle, the fees are secondary to all that. If they put all the fees and wages into a couple of SS type signings and did the usual few loans whilst keeping the squad together i wouldn't complain and i think that serves the league position aim better than the development route. However if we get to the end of the window as we are now with another cheapie/few loans that's the best we can hope for. It's all down to big Val and luck with injuries then.
  5. This deal could be on hold due to work permit, sell on clause owed elsewhere, fitness issue cropped up, could be anything.
  6. The target will be 15th or above and the only agenda is grow some more cheap or homegrown assets to sell asap.
  7. So you agree that we only have a budget for squad players and not to buy ready made first teamers or a marquee signing.
  8. This Dolan thread reminds me of new signing threads. There'll be a complete 360 when he finally signs somewhere on a decent contract.
  9. JRC to Charlton will surely be a 'deal up to 1 million' and also consider he was still under contract here so if they wanted him they'd have to make a sensible bid. Or more like us being the active sellers his contract would need paying up this end so all is never as it seems money wise but imo no way are we clearing a straight 1 million for him, more like half or two thirds that.
  10. Ennis, Leo, Tele etc signed up by Broughton as squad back up/development players cost about 2 million between them and were shite contributing virtually nothing. However he got out of jail getting a few quid back so financially not much harm done but on the field it badly cost us because there was nothing to fall back on when needed. There's a bigger risk to it than the Prem loans and i think we've yet to see one of these types of signings come to fruition so lets hope this recruitment lot have done their homework beyond looking at running stats.
  11. We've gone from left field signings out of the blue to the Belgium bargain basement section out of the blue signings. Still, beggars can't be choosers.
  12. I think there is plenty creative accounting goes on in the football finance and ownership industry and plenty loopholes to exploit. Otherwise half these very wealthy people, corporations and big business just would't go anywhere near it.
  13. The ones that are interested especially the youngsters will not attend or not be able to attend unless it's cheap. The Ewood express is great in giving them a chance but realistically how many will return brought by their parents at those matchday prices when the adult has to pay ? Statistically some of the most deprived areas in England are within Blackburn town boundaries, across both communities. Something those running the club seems completely detached from and it's another reason of many the local support is dwindling.
  14. A new narrative is now being formed around '£20 grand a week' knowing that Rovers best paid players are generally on less and most of them are on way less. So now everyone is asking for 20k a week because it suits the 'not worth it' argument it's the new '20 million a year' !
  15. That's why -within reason- they should invest by getting their contracts sorted way earlier and making them fair offers and doesn't just mean wages there might have to be trigger clauses inserted but so what ? Better to include an agreeable trigger fee than hope they all turn into players 5 or 10 million is going to be bid for. It can be covered by some extent with add on's and sell on's. The impression here is low offers or no offers hoping they'll grab what's put in front of them when their deals are ticking down but players have a recurring habit of hitting their best form when that's the case. All this has gone on under the shadow bosses watch so it's down to him and he needs holding accountable by both his bosses in India and the fans.
  16. There is no way they'll engage more of the Asian community adults to attend increasing match day prices the way they have yet that is supposed to be the number 1 aim. Clueless.
  17. The last time either player was asked they said they hadn't. Why automatically assume that all of a sudden either player is now making unrealistic demands to Rovers ?
  18. If pressed on it i'd say he has an offer from Derby for a few more quid than here but he wants to see if there is anything else better paid and appealing before he accepts that.
  19. Ain't no way this club is seemingly trying to source a new midfielder in the 2 million quid bracket without preparing to lose one of the current ones.
  20. 'We can trade academy players' Remember that line it's a new income steam being tapped aided by the likes of Nixon regularly advertising our very young potential talent before they've even hit the U18's. To be fair there must've been some good recruitment going on a kiddies level in recent years but we as fans will never see or feel any benefit from it, agents will.......
  21. There's a hint of Steve Kean syndrome about Gestede imo. In terms of he's over ambitious and his connections have rushed him into a position way above his head but now he's there he'll say anything to remain there. No doubt he wants the team to be successful but he needs to realise pretty quickly only the truth will suffice here there is no tolerance for flannel or BS. They say once bitten twice shy well you can times that by 100 for this remaining fanbase never mind the fact Lancastrians can see lies coming from a thousand paces away. You aren't a politician Rudy so don't spin like one.
  22. And somewhere in the running costs some disappears..... I see what you did there 😉
  23. Be no surprise to me if they both went now the rumours of Tronstad wanting out are no doubt linked to him realising he won't get another decent deal here. Doesn't seem the type to just see out his contract probably thinks #### it i'll be off asap if i can find a new club.
  24. That's why they are desperately scrabbling around for a defensive mid i think it's been pretty obvious for a while, once they've found one he'll be allowed to speak to potential suitors. Then he's off.
