  1. Yet again the desperation to buy cheap with cheap wages and pray they get a few goals so that value quickly increases is trumping the common sense approach. Invest in someone more proven and the returns will take car of themselves in the next few years, that's a proven method here. This lad must have good running stats is all i can say.
  2. More likely the result will be them telling the club they'll need to rake in 10 million themselves in summer.
  3. Regardless of any Broughton flaws he was preferable to this current rabble any day of the week. It didn't help his cause that neither Waggot nor the shadow MD appeared to want him here.
  4. I can't see how it's family wealth funding it the way it's all set up the money comes from the VH group. These types don't shell out of their own pockets everything is done through their businesses that's how they take advantage of various tax perks etc. The unwise buying of the house and funding Akons part appearances show this, had they tipped up out of their pockets there wouldn't have been an issue. Plus if they'd poured 200 mill of their own money in i'd wager they'd want something back, might even have run it better to try for the Prem because if not that personal fortune is gone. Doing it through the business the debt just stays on the books as inter company loans as pointed out and it actually adds value to the company portfolio. And if it goes tits up at some point it just gets written down as a massive loss, shaves a bit off the company worth but also shaves the tax bill. These loons would be on skid row now if they used personal money. We are just a cog now in a much bigger corporate wheel that will just keep turning until something eventually gives.
  5. Barnsley 'We need 5 mill for our starman if we are to let him go' BRFC 'Here's 500k up front plus 500k in add ons' Barnsley 'Lads we said 5 million you;'ve got to be near to that or we don't talk' BRFC 'Ok here's 750k plus 500 add ons, that's our best offer' Barnsley ' Get stuffed, your number is blocked' ! Sheff Weds 'We rate this lad around 3 million even though we are a bit desperate' BRFC 'Here's 750k' Sheff Weds 'Lads we aren't that desperate plus there's other interest' BRFC 'Ok here's 750k plus add ons to 1 million' Sheff Weds 'Get stuffed, your blocked' Rudy Gestede 'We tried, be grateful you have a team anyway' Rovers non happy clapping fanbase 'Get stuffed' !!!!
  6. 9.5k home fans will turn up and it'll feel like a big crowd. Think Hull have shifted a lot of tickets which is a rarity for them at Ewood so the upper office will be happy and telling India look the boycotters have given up already.
  7. There is something at the heart of it all and i'm not sure the 'balance sheet' is the main driving factor in it. A company worth say 2 billion dumps its financial black hole on the cheap, writes off the loans but saves itself 15 million a year is still worth 1.8 billion. Nobody would blink at that back in India.
  8. I thought they had occasionally put interest on some smaller loans ?
  9. It's something that just doesn't resonate with the outsiders running and owning the club. Just look at the PNE ticket prices for a start, they really don't deserve support pulling the strokes they do in a town like this.
  10. They'll be straight back in for him now on reduced terms.
  11. Basically means you don't owe us that anymore but we've added to the value of the club so we'd want more for it. Not that they'd get it obviously but it's just a way of writing debt off.
  12. Might be wrong but i assume it's if they start converting big loans into equity?
  13. I'd say if there are any loopholes these lot will be in them and through them in a jiffy via their whizzkid accountants. I don't want to be stereotyping but ducking and diving and knowing every avenue where money is concerned is in the very DNA of Indian business culture. Also there does remain the real possibility they have that much annual disposable income that they just aren't that bothered but have simply fallen out of love with their English baby. And it's family...... us !
  14. Again....VH group funds VLL loses so that on the company accounts will go in the expenses column and be draining some operating profit/income in India. Ergo overall it's keeping the tax bill down a bit for the parent company.
  15. Yep its been the jewel in the crown and the only success of the Venky reign and i'm sure at times some people have wanted rid of it but wouldn't dare. I think it fits their ethos though as breeding and growing things is in their nature of the core business, as is young cheap staff ! Financially its more than washed its face but not sure in football terms they've made best use of a lot of the assets its produced.
  16. Ours was set up nearly 30 years ago on cheaply bought land owned by the owner so i'd think buying land and setting up facilities now without Prem income will be eye watering. Before running costs are factored in.
  17. And if he lives North of Brum and an hour away from Barnsley it will be a factor. Playing for Barnsley or Blackburn means he can live in the leafy Cheshire commuter belt where many many footballers chose to live and socialise. Manchester is a heady draw for any young buck with a few quid given all the famous people that live and socialise around there. And it's only an hour from Birmingham at most so ask yourself again non football wise at the min what does Bristol actually offer him ? On a football level it'll come down to ONE thing.. wages so don't flatter yourself too much although you will offer more than Rovers.
  18. VLL owns the club in England but itself is owned and funded by the VH group in India. Therefore the funding of that venture is withing the VH group accounts as expenses to keep it afloat. So that money will be minus from the profits or income of the VH group so obviously it'll have an effect on the tax side of things over there. Regardless of it being in England and the clubs losses tend to be more or less in line with VLL. So not too different to the North End set up i assume in terms of group accounting. Jack used his Rosedale Investments (?) to fund the club i think and that was registered in Jersey. I'm sure funding the club helped shave a bit off his tax bill within that investment vehicle if it was making money elsewhere.
  19. Also i know Preston didn't have an academy, although not sure if they do know, so that is c3 mill a year less running costs than Rovers . But ... A third of the Rovers academy costs are met by grants and since Venkys took over off the top of my head Jones 16 mill + add ons Wharton 18 mill + add ons Hanley 3 mill Travis 2 mill Leonard 1 mill 40 million quid there divided by 15 years means the operating costs have been entirely covered without the ownership having to spend a penny on it. So all is not as it seems regarding this so called expensive luxury of a Cat 1 academy. The fact a lot of that has been totally spewed on paying off managers, directors and players is again down to the terrible ownership and stewarding of this club and something you won't find has happened at Preston.
  20. And it's fair enough to presume the same corporate accounting methods apply in India when the VH group funds its overseas loss making entity. We also have a VH group employee running the club and two VH group finance men on the board of Blackburn Rovers. So nothing different here apart from 5 thousand miles and a good few brain cells.
  21. Maybe because he prefers living in the North ? Some do you know.
  22. Several times this season when we've gone behind the fans have turned on the ownership etc. To most of those players that will be a first and unnerving experience but i assume they are getting used to it by now.
  23. You've got a collection from overseas thrown together in a new country, new league, bigger demands physically and a lot are quite young. You have a head coach who is beasting them daily with a relentless high press, you have a heavy pitch and fans who are 1 goal from turning every game or not turning up, or both. And you all find yourselves in a relegation battle when no doubt you were sold a crock of bullshit when you signed. When you look around the dressing room and pitch there are no real leaders, no experience for where you are and no talismen you can rely on. It's really isn't easy street compared to the gentle serene Tony Mowbray years.
  24. Sadly they were on easy street the whole club was with little expectation other than tread water. This lot now aren't as good and will be paid a lot less (there's a correlation there) but they aren't on easy street by any means compared to that lot.
