Rovers are well aware all along there is real interest in these players and it is the only time they will spend real money. When we signed Tronstad, Siggy, Hyam and Brittain it was arguably less or similar in fees than now but much bigger wages and was clearly more a statement of intent than this summer, unarguably. There's clearly a couple of million to invest in low first instalment fees and a commitment to the 'deal up to' add on's should the players reach them. What we are seeing is V's doing as they usually do and allowing a new gaffer some signings with some proceeds of previous sales. In reality though it's all about the wage bill and fitting as many lower paid development players in there as it can handle, the fees are secondary to all that. If they put all the fees and wages into a couple of SS type signings and did the usual few loans whilst keeping the squad together i wouldn't complain and i think that serves the league position aim better than the development route. However if we get to the end of the window as we are now with another cheapie/few loans that's the best we can hope for. It's all down to big Val and luck with injuries then.

JRC to Charlton will surely be a 'deal up to 1 million' and also consider he was still under contract here so if they wanted him they'd have to make a sensible bid. Or more like us being the active sellers his contract would need paying up this end so all is never as it seems money wise but imo no way are we clearing a straight 1 million for him, more like half or two thirds that.

Ennis, Leo, Tele etc signed up by Broughton as squad back up/development players cost about 2 million between them and were shite contributing virtually nothing. However he got out of jail getting a few quid back so financially not much harm done but on the field it badly cost us because there was nothing to fall back on when needed. There's a bigger risk to it than the Prem loans and i think we've yet to see one of these types of signings come to fruition so lets hope this recruitment lot have done their homework beyond looking at running stats.

I think there is plenty creative accounting goes on in the football finance and ownership industry and plenty loopholes to exploit. Otherwise half these very wealthy people, corporations and big business just would't go anywhere near it.
