Buying British talent and actually investing 1.5 million upwards before add ons, developing it then selling it HAS worked here as you've shown. Chuck in Dack and Diaz who should have been sold for vast profit also if it wasn't for injury and incompetence and a lesser extent Rothwell then the model was there for all to see. However you simply have to invest a decent chunk at first and pay them more than cheap imports. They won't even do that now and certainly won't pay them so that model is consigned to the bin despite overwhelming evidence it was the right way to go, they just never got it right like stable well run other clubs have.

God knows what's going on with him but they haven't got rid of him yet don't appear to have any intention of using him. So paying him thousands per week doesn't fit in with everything else that's going on.

Thing is the court case has been used as largely the reason this is happening now but way before it came to light we had the Lenihen, Nyambe, Rothwell saga's. Perhaps we are paying in a way for that now i'm sure if the owners were aware of it they can't have been happy with that at all, then there was BBD and 7 million and 4 years of coaching and wages flushed down the bog. Why is the shadowman still anywhere near the club ? Is this his way of trying to pay them back and atone for his errors ? If we listened back to some of Mowbray's hints in interviews towards the end of his reign they knew this was coming.

We are a development club nothing more and Hyam came and improved as the seasons went on so now in typical fashion someone else will benefit from his peak years for a few million quid, Not being prepared to give good centre defenders a good contract because they are in their 30's or pushing it just shows how clueless and out of touch the people running this club are. You'd still recoup that Hyam fee for a good CD aged 31+.

The good old Nixon 'Watford eye Hyam' piece a few weeks ago was the flag for that one he, as per normal, was putting Dom up for sale for Rovers. I doubt Watford ever even considered a genuine bid but to me it was obvious then what was happening. Imo Waggot was a bit dodgy in that classic slippery football suited kind of way and he himself was over promoted ending up as CEO here. However he had a set way of working and stuck to it and i think that has played a huge role in holding this club back and simply refusing to step up a gear or take the odd calculated gamble. That being said though he also kept it competitive, steady and in business whilst at least being an official challenger to the pillock in the shadows preventing him from doing everything as he pleased. So now i think we can wave goodbye to calm waters and hello to sink or swim, it'll either click and somehow work well or it'll go spectacularly wrong.

If Carter or Wharton could play every game then no he probably wouldn't be but right now football wise that is a big hole. A good British focused scout could replace Hyam for modest money but we are now in the freebie pond so anything could happen.

Agree although i think we've got to look at it like this if it wasn't him 'the agency' would serve up one of their clients probably with zero affinity or connection to Rovers and charge a fortune for it. Remember John Jensen being shoved in as Kean's number 2, that kind of thing. Rhodes always came across as a grounded sensible lad and at least has some feeling for the club so i presume he's here to try and do a good job not just have a gravy train ride. He'll not be short of money.
