You’d have ten penalties a game if you started giving them for holding at corners these days. I agree that something should be done about it though. Not a random pen in the first game of the season but an on going campaign to stamp it out.

Exactly. He needs to fashion a plan to get us back into the game if we go behind. -
John Buckley

The guys who are playing well get the shirts. That’s how it should be. Buckley will get his chance again. JDT is rotating the squad as best he can with mixed results regarding injury but given the way games are coming at us it’s all he can do. I’ve more faith in him already than ever I had in Mowbray. -

That live show he did for Granada TV back in the 1960’s was the second best live rock n roll show I’ve ever seen on TV. The one they did earlier with Little Richard was the best. -

That’s a great result today. We’ve starting to look hard to beat and we keep finding ways of winning. When Mowbray was here we could be 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go and I still would have taken a draw if offered. -

4-2-1-3 ? Two centre halves on the bench ? What’s happened to Hirst and Buckley ? -

When things are going right they take care of themselves. When things are going wrong they need putting right - hence more discussions when we lose. -

Nothing to do with football but I was just reading todays birthdays in the paper. Grace Slick, lead singer of the Jefferson Airplane and a real pin up in her day, is 83 today ! Where did the years go ? -

Yeah he was what I call an “ economical “ player. Everything he did was calm and measured, he was a really thoughtful player, nothing was rushed. Wasn’t he the last player to score by charging the goalkeeper back over the goal line ? -

I remember him making his debut for us in a 0-0 draw with Norwich. Kevin Keelan had a blinder in goal for them. Don was a very classy footballer who could play almost anywhere on the pitch. He wasn’t really a No 9 though. -

You’ve got to get in and around the penalty spot and nearer if possible as much as you can. It’s not easy when you’re playing out on the wing. -

We played Phillips at first because we had to. There was nobody else. -

Great stuff. Good to see film of the Don. Ronnie Blair, who scored the Oldham goal, was the husband of one of my wife’s teaching colleagues. -

Some of our players seem to be having goes and turns at the treatment table. As soon as we get one or two back we get a couple more crying off. Maybe we’re working too hard at catching up on the training given JDT late appointment, maybe the games are just coming too thick and fast ? -
The Rovers young ones against Burnley’s dads army.

I agree about the injuries. A week or two back we were celebrating only having one player having treatment, Barnes I think it was. That lasted for about 10 seconds. Next thing you know Ayala and Brittain were out. -

Gallagher is ok on uncontested headers. Contested headers can go anywhere. -
It’s hard one to call. Will it be the Dingle experience or the Rovers youth that prevails ? I can honestly paint a picture were we win. Kaminsky and the centre halves play like Trojans under plenty of pressure allowing BBD to race away to bang in the winner. We definitely do better when the opposition have more of the ball.

Tell us about season tickets again Matty. Somebody might have missed the other hundred posts you’ve made on the subject.

Hanley always had crucial mistake in him. He’s no smarter now than he was when he was with Rovers.

It’s more of a shit league this season than ever. Given a fair a wind we should be able to do something this time. -
I take it one of them was the pen. So 1 out of 16.
