  1. How is it he couldn’t do that ? He’s been involved in pro football for long enough.
  2. Yes, I wouldn’t want to put all our financial eggs in one basket. Especially one like Cantwell.
  3. We’ve more chance of signing Noel Cantwell and he’s dead.
  4. It’s from a free kick. I presume that’s the wall.
  5. I was going to write a list of championship/lower prem clubs that have been quoted as being interested in him. Then it occurred to me that it would be quicker to write a list of clubs that aren’t interested.
  6. Yes I agree. We don’t want any show ponies. He’s done nothing at Bournemouth.
  7. Yeah, I’ve no axe to grind with him. Whatever other failings he had, giving 100% wasn’t one of them.
  8. Just asking but where do you think his best position was ? I think he proved it wasn’t right wing.
  9. Chaddy won’t be wanting him. Ex Dingle and all that !
  10. Well after 61 years Rovers are stuck with me. If you want success and entertainment guaranteed for your £30 they are the clubs to follow, at the moment of course. When I first started Spurs were in that all conquering class. Liverpool were in Div 2 and City were on the way there. I’ve seen success at Rovers and I’ve been entertained. But not necessarily at the same time. The best Rovers team I’ve ever seen play never won anything.
  11. There must have been lots of teams who’ve had a look at him over the last few years. Yet nobody has made a move.
  12. The arse has fallen out of the season ticket sales because the club has been run on automatic pilot for the last dozen years. The Indian ownership’s neglectful attitude has alienated lots of the hard core fans. People no longer identify with the club. If the Blackburn Rovers was a child we’d have been taken into care years ago.
  13. If he’s not backed he probably won’t be. The players we have at the moment won’t be enough.
  14. He was never the same player after the injuries. Once he lost that blistering pace over 20 yards.
  15. I know he was played out of position but putting that to one side I wasn’t impressed. He looked very ordinary to me. Even out of position you can tell a good footballer. I remember midfielder Eamon Rogers being played as an emergency right back and looking like he’d played there all his life. Maybe Giles realised he’d dropped a bollock coming to Rovers and just gave up.
  16. I used to work with a lad who ran a social club in Leigh back in the day. At about 8-00 pm every night he’d announce “ Anybody here from Wigan ? The pies have arrived. Come and get them “.
  17. I remember watching Forest under Brian Clough play a German team in one of the rounds of the European Cup. Forest footballed them to death that night but the Germans defended really well and kept the game tight. After 90 minutes of Forest dominance it was still 0-0. Then the Forest goalie launched an ale house ball straight down field, the two German centre halves got in a tangle, left the ball to each other, it bounced over them and Peter Withe nipped in to slot the ball past the keeper. All that football had got them nowhere until that point.
  18. Brilliant, anywhere else I wouldn’t believe you, but at Rovers anything is possible. What a joke of a club. They’re appointing a manager of a football club not the deputy head of a local secondary school !
  19. You need to go to Liverpool or City then.
  20. I watched Bolton quite a bit in Sam’s time there They started out as an ale house team but as time went by he introduced more and more skilful players. If you couldn’t admire the likes of Djorkaeff and Okocha you shouldn’t really be watching football.
  21. Wigan RLFC fans are known as pie eaters because the miners in Wigan went back to work during a strike a hundred years ago. They were seen to have eaten humble pie.
  22. Ex Rover Matty Platt has just signing for them as well.
  23. Sam was more or less pre Venkies. You couldn’t accuse the club of being un-professional then irrespective of what you thought of the football.
