  1. Cole and Jansen were a terrific partnership. Once Yorke arrived he seemed to have a competition with Cole as to who was going to run the least.
  2. Yes, what could go wrong did go wrong.
  3. A bit out of our league at the moment ?
  4. I’ve lost count of the good chances we’ve had to get to an FA cup final in my lifetime. Drawing away at Fulham in the quarter finals only to lose at home in the early 1960’s. Little Oxford Utd away later on in the 1960’s with the best Rovers team I ever saw. Several opportunities in the Jack Walker era when we seemed to get good away draws only to lose the replays at Ewood. I was right behind the Pedersen header at OT. I thought it was going in right until it went past the post.
  5. “ Race and Pace “ the story of West Indian cricketers in East Lancashire is on BBC 2 tonight at 6.00 pm. I think I’ve seen it before but it’s worth another watch I think.
  6. Yes but can we bring players like that in under the new Brexit rules ?
  7. What makes you think there’s a chance of them running the club properly after doing the exact opposite for the last ten years ? I just hope they go before I do.
  8. I agree Stuart, Yorke was a major flop. Not only did he fail to shine but he had a really bad effect on Andy Cole.
  9. Nobody’s saying Carter or Magloire should be regular starters but they would handy to fill in when Ayala goes missing or Lenihan gets suspended. That’s even if we do get a loan centre half in.
  10. I agree, it won’t be the first time we’ve loaned out centre halves and been left scraping the barrel.
  11. Una Stubbs, a star of much light entertainment over the last 60 years.
  12. Putting them in was a strange decision. This test could be gone already with us having to bat last.
  13. Compared with what we’ve got now he was a World beater.
  14. I’d take a point at this moment.
  15. Yeah we weren’t looking too good when he left. He was right about Cole and Yorke. I remember watching them playing in a early season game on a very hot day, they did absolutely nothing. One centre half could have easily marked the pair of them. Kevin Phillips was playing up front for the opposition and he ran his blood to water that day in a similar role.
  16. Good to hear about Mark Hughes announcing his arrival on the pitch in the Derby cup game. Was the centre half he quietened Tarribo West ?
  17. Don’t let Mowbray spend the Armstrong money at all is how I feel. He needs to be down the road.
  18. I never listen to anything he says if I can help it, it’s all self serving garbage.
  19. I have my doubts but the training pitch is the place to see if it could work. What exactly do they do ? Who though a very average left back ( Fred Pickering ) could become a top class centre forward or a very average midfield player ( Andy McEvoy ) could become a top class striker ? We experimented with players then.
  20. I’ve just seen the goals on the “ highlights “ reel. That first Morecambe goal, deary me, a schoolboy team would be embarrassed. Where do you start to allocate the blame for that ? Who was it said “ put all the players in a big sack and beat the sack with a large stick “ ?
  21. We’ve been really poor at getting back into the game after going behind for years, certainly all the time Mowbray has been here. That tells me all I need to know about morale and team spirit at the club in spite of all this “ great set of lads “ bullshit.
  22. You mean Gallagher, he’s our current right winger !
  23. I don’t remember it at all matey, I’m just quoting the Jackman book This one puts in context 15 Oct 2007 Rovers 5 - Morecambe 1 Rovers Arestidou Taylor, Bateson, Winnard, Berner Treacy ( Judge ), O’Keefe, Hodge, Peter Ritgers ( Clarke ), De Vita ( Haworth ) Scorers Treacy 2, De Vita 2, Ritgers 1 I’ve never heard of half of those yet they battered a Morecambe side.
