  1. What part of the whole Venkies/Rovers saga makes any sense ?
  2. Yes, there have been 4 really top class England left backs in my time,, Ray Wilson, Kenny Sansom, Ashley Cole and Terry. He was a great player before that badly broken leg more or less finished at the top level. Thanks for the memories Terry.
  3. If you ‘re hoping to get the best out of Brererton and Gallagher, as you say, they need to be played up front as a pair. It’s fitting the rest of the team into that formation that’s the issue. What do they do in training ? That’s the place to work out new ways of playing and new formations.
  4. The Ayala signing is reason enough to sack Mogadon man on it’s own.
  5. Who appointed the three stooges ? Who appointed all the other stooges ? Anybody can make a mistake but this lot specialise in it.
  6. I wouldn’t say 6 goals in 18 games playing up front for a promotion bound team is a great return.
  7. I thought that was Middlesbrough. Let’s face it - he’s done next to nothing since he left Ewood.
  8. Or the nesting box in my back garden.
  9. “ Don’t tell him Pike ! “
  10. And we don’t see a penny of the money.
  11. Yet we could keep Gladwin on the books for ages with no chance of him ever playing for us again.
  12. Maybe Downing will be slotted in.
  13. There’s nothing to say that either of Dack and Wharton will reach their previous levels. They were two very serious injuries.
  14. There ‘s an exception to every rule, that’s the exception. Plus we had a slightly better team in those days.
  15. A good pre season doesn’t always count for a lot but a bad pre season rarely ends well.
  16. I’ve never done it before but at 8 to 1 the odds on us going down are very tempting.
  17. How did we get £ 248,000 for Alex Marrow ? He made Lowe look like Franz Beckenbauer.
  18. We also had a really nice short sleeved version of that kit for games on hot days.
  19. It’s probably my favourite as well. Times were different then, we must have worn that same kit for the best part of 10 years ! Imagine that now. I remember the first game we wore it at - Everton at home on the 17th of November 1962. It was cracking match that we won 3-2 after being 1-2 down late in the game. A Bryan Douglas penalty won it in the last minute. He sent Gordon West in the Everton goal the wrong way by a mile in the teeth of a snow storm. Big Fred ran them ragged all afternoon, I think that was when Everton took notice of him. Happy days.
  20. Now that is what I call a Rovers kit.
