  1. To be known in the future as Ben Brerertonio.
  2. That’s foolish on his part. If you can’t find an opportunity to get a dig in when the ball is in play it’s a poor do.
  3. That’s no age these days is it. Condolences to his family and friends.
  4. I was reading in my paper that Mings gave their striker a crack off the ball early on in the game. They were saying it would have been a red card job if VAR had been working. I didn’t see it, did you ?
  5. Yeah, it’s a straight swap with Kane coming to Ewood. And then I woke up.
  6. Ayala’s doing his best to get on the list.
  7. I’d gone upstairs to watch that game and I fell asleep part way through. Austria only woke up once they’d gone behind. If they had a striker who could actually head the ball they could have pinched that at the end. Southgate’s not the man for me.
  8. Vernon, Johnston, Dobing I think.
  9. Unfortunately that’s where we are. I can’t see funds being made available much this summer and certainly not for another centre half. To be honest If I were the chicken chokers I wouldn’t give Mowbray another penny.
  10. What do we do with last years marquee centre half signing ?
  11. When did you last watch a game of rugby in the flesh ? Or better still, stand next to a player or two in the bar ? They’re not all as big as you think. Some of the backs and half backs are my size, especially in Rugby League. The difference is rugby is still played like football was when I played. You didn’t let an opponent know they’d hurt you even when they had. Now football players are taught to feign injury to gain an advantage. From top to bottom. It makes me tired to watch it.
  12. I listened to it a week ago when it was live on the radio. It’s well worth a listen.
  13. Watching rugby of either code just illuminates how pathetic modern day footballers are. The rugby lads take hits that would put me in bed for a week as though they are nothing.
  14. I didn’t watch the game but according to the stats in my paper there was the grand total of 3 shots on goal. In a final, really ?
  15. Knowing what you know now would you have signed him when we did ? Also, would you give him a new contract this year ?
  16. Rugby Union has improved as a spectacle over the last 15 years or so. Previously it was pretty dull lots of the time with too much kicking and not enough running with the ball. We in League didn’t call it “ kick and clap” for nothing. Since it went pro the standard has gone up massively. Some times I see a bit of a game on the news and I can’t immediately tell if it’s league or union. It sounds like we could do with a bit of advice on the commercial side from Sale. You can still have two teams, I have Rovers and Hornets. I care deeply for both. It makes for a bad weekend if they both lose though.
  17. Yes, I read the full match report in today’s Guardian. It sounds like De Klerk’s understudy made the difference when he came on. “ Defence wins games “. You’ll be getting hooked on rugby if you’re not careful. I played football exclusively when I was younger but after watching one game of League I was hooked for life. It’s just more exciting and honest than modern football. The half time score reminds me of a game I took a new girl friend to. It was a Friday night match against our deadly rivals Oldham. It was a cold and foggy Friday night and the game was a borefest. Same score at half time, 0-0. The girl was in my ear right from the off, “ I’m cold, my feet are hurting, I can’t see, I’m bored “. So at half time I gave in and we went to the nearest pub for a beer. After an hour my chums came bursting in all excited, laughing and joking. I said “ What was final score “ ? They said ” 24-0 to Hornets “ ! I think that was the beginning of the end for our new relationship.
  18. If somebody would have been marshalling the stats when Andy McEvoy was starting out at Rovers they would have come to the conclusion he was a pretty average reserve grade midfield player. It was only when we shoved him up front in a crisis mid way through his career that we discovered he was a goal scoring machine.
  19. Successful teams have a recognisable shape and a coherent, understandable, way of playing. I don’t see that at Rovers. We look like a team that doesn’t spend enough time working on a way of playing.
  20. Ings and Bamford are decent Premier League players but they’re not International standard strikers.
  21. Yes, the most un Brazilian striker I’ve ever seen. Gallagher is better and that tells you all you need to know.
  22. The Brazil team of Falcoa, Socrates, Cerezoa, Eder, Junior, Zico etc had a worse centre forward than Sam. Probably why they didn’t win it that year.
  23. Palace ? I saw an article were Appleton was being linked with WBA job.
  24. Shouldn’t Newhouse be Casaneuva ?
