  1. That team would walk this League and be good enough to beat most of the bottom third of the current Premier League.
  2. It’s a cup final for Rotherham and a nothing game for Cardiff.
  3. In all the time I’ve been watching Rovers I can’t recall a left back less capable of keeping a winger quiet than Bell. He just watches his opponent cross the ball in as though it’s nothing to do with him.
  4. According to a pal of mine Stoke have made a serious bid for Stephen Humphreys, the Rochdale striker. We were supposed to be interested in him a month ago, along with half of the championship clubs. Swansea are also in the bidding apparently.
  5. Years ago the Rugby League correspondent of my local club was banned by the clubs directors because of his criticism of the way the team was performing. He took to paying at the turnstiles in a disguise to be able to report on the matches.
  6. I’ve been an avid fan of “ Line Of Duty “ over the years. It started out brilliantly with series 1 and has usually provided some gripping TV. However I thought it had run it’s course at the end of the last series. I haven’t watched the latest series in spite of my wife watching it.
  7. Pears might have better taste in home furnishings.
  8. If you like Soul music and Motown his show is a must listen.
  9. He’s getting ready for next season. He’s planning to be the first player to play riding a bike. That way he may be able to get up and down the pitch a bit better. Where does it say in the laws of the game you can’t play riding a bike ?
  10. Show pony for me. The new Per Frandsen.
  11. Mowbray’s interview - zzzzzzzzzz - Holtby is leaving.
  12. Given the situation regarding the virus in India I’d be amazed if the cheque book comes out again this summer. I think we’ll be back to the old situation of replacing good players ( Armstrong ) with inferior ones ( Dozzell ). Previous experience tells me that only ends one way.
  13. Although Armstrong has obviously matured as a player there are still gaps in his ability. Taking on goalkeepers one to one for a start. I’m not impressed by the coaching at Rovers. Lots of players seem to reach a certain level and just stay there. Nyambe, Lenihan, Travis etc. They’re still making the same mistakes as they did as beginners.
  14. Yes he was up there with Gestede and Santa Cruz in the heading a ball stakes.
  15. We haven’t got a game tonight, it’s on Saturday.
  16. Their results have been dreadful but they’ve lost a hell of a lot of games 1-0 recently. They’ll be going all out on Saturday.
  17. I don’t like the idea of doing to Derby what Huddersfield did to us a few years ago and turning up with the reserve team. We need to maintain the integrity of the competition. Plus I’m never happy about us losing, irrespective of the circumstances.
  18. I’ve got 3 of those as well. They’re really for show/framing. I was wearing one to wash the car one Sunday, the one with No 10 in red on the back. Ian Callaghan, the old Liverpool and England player, was seeing a glamorous widow a door or two up from me at the time. He saw me and said “ A Bryan Douglas fan I see “. He told me what a great player he though Bryan was. Like a lot of the older players he was a really nice guy with no edge at all. I think the widow wore him out.
  19. They’ve lost at lost of those games 1-0 and they’ve never given up. We’ll need to be ready for a battle on Saturday.
  20. Yeah, the good ones can. They go up with the centre half and they’re still up there when the centre half is going back down. When I first started watching we had a striker called Ian Lawther who was really good at it.
  21. That was the first shirt I ever had. Still my favourite.
  22. He be a better bet than Mowbray. He didn’t pull his punches in the early days at the Dingledome and sorted out what had become a real mess. He turned them from a joke club to being contenders again.
  23. He had the longest run up to the ball I’ve ever seen by far, Jimmy Anderson fast bowler style. 15 yards to 20 yards, if not more ! He was a really big guy and I though this is going out through the back of the net. He slowed down as he got to the ball and gently side footed the ball straight into the arms of the Palace ‘keeper ! It was like a back pass. Unbelievably the ref then said “ Take it again “. Why I don’t know. Even more unbelievably Coddington did exactly the same thing again with exactly the same end result. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. Later on in the same game the ref gave us another pen, he must have had us down for a home win, and Eamon Rogers slotted it away in style.
