  1. We’ll be able to field a team with 3 or 4 No 10’s, 5 when Dack comes back. I don’t know what goes on in Mowbray’s head but he needs to stop listening to the voices.
  2. Kevin Gallagher said it was like watching the football his dad had told him about from back in the day. Two guys out wide all the time and three up the middle.
  3. Left back has to take some responsibility for goals like that, it’s his position when the ball is on the other side.
  4. He was right about the goal thought, the lad was stood on his own in the “D “, that shouldn’t happen at any level of football.
  5. I’d go for one full of question marks like The Riddler wears, sums Rovers and Mowbray up to a tee.
  6. It was interesting to hear Kevin Gallagher comments regarding the first goal. He reckoned that even the footballing dogs in the street know our central midfield drop too deep in defence. That’s why they lad had a free shot from just outside the box. Whoever came out to block the shot it was a pretty half hearted attempt, too little, too late. When I played central midfield we always had a defensive player in or around the “ D “.
  7. I’d swap their manager for Mowbray any time.
  8. Stating the blindingly obvious but we won’t win many games with only 2 shots on goal.
  9. He’s never had a 90 minute team in all the time he’s been here. Even when we got promoted we only played 30 minutes out of the 90 most of the time.
  10. That was after he’d gone back to Southampton and done nothing.
  11. That doesn’t mean Whiteman is a bad player. Veron was one of the best midfield players in the World but it just didn’t work out at Utd. Same with our own Chris Sutton, terrific at Norwich, Rovers and Celtic, but a flop at Chelsea.
  12. Chapman looked the part at Shrewsbury last season. Is this kid from Crewe any better ?
  13. “ An Inspector Calls “ was good last night on BBC 4. It’s an old story but it’s just as relevant today.
  14. Most blatant penalty not given in my book was Parker on Jason Wilcox at Old Trafford when we were winning 1-0 and it would have been a red card as well. I have a long memory and that was just one of a long series of bad decisions we got against the Red Rats.
  15. I suspect Carter might get a game even if Nyambe is fit so we have another big lad to deal with the throw ins.
  16. There’s quick over 10 yards and then there’s fast over 50 yards. I think Dolan belongs in the first category.
  17. Yeah, we’ll need Ayala for this one. Regarding Mike’s preview - Bryan Douglas scored the best goal I’ve ever seen at Ewood against them back in the day.
  18. I don’t know what he was doing for that chance he missed. He side footed it when he should have give it the laces.
  19. No, he’s got a long history of muscle type injuries. Like most quick players.
  20. It’s a bit much to throw a young centre half in at full back. I’ve seen better centre halves than Carter get a chasing playing out wide.
  21. It’s convenient that it allows Mowbray to have another go at the dreaded 5 at the back. To paraphrase the late Graham Taylor “ Do I not like that line up ! “
  22. Yeah, nobody is going to tell me Bell was a good fullback, he was really poor. The next time he stops a cross coming in will be the first.
  23. Me too, as we’ve seen recently nothing beats Test Match cricket, it’s the highest form of the game.
  24. That’s very humble and modest plot. Thanks for all the memories Jack.
  25. The best school boy striker I ever played with signed for Hull City straight from school back in the day. That’s where he discovered beer and women. He was back playing with us a couple of years later. He was still a class act but playing in central midfield and about a stone heavier.
