  1. I’ve just been reading a quote from an old time Big Club player about their problems. ” It doesn’t matter who you put in charge, if the culture isn’t quite right there are always going to be things that surface to the top. Unless someone can go in and have a good sweep out , you are just creating more trouble “. The time for our “ good sweep out “ is now.
  2. I see Lee Bowyer got a win in his first game against high flying Reading. He’ll keep Big Club up no problem. There’s a photo of him in my paper looking animated on the touch line. Another one who would have been a step up from Mowbray missed.
  3. Without a doubt the most dull, turgid, un-inspiring, boring, clueless, football I’ve ever seen at Ewood and I started in 1961. Carry on with this guy and they’ll be able to shut three stands and get everybody who turns up into the Blackburn End next season.
  4. Some of us said so at the time but got the usual shouting down. Possibly by the same people that thought signing Brererton and Gallagher were good ideas as well.
  5. Last time I was in the “ Owd Betts “ Ellery Hanley was in a quiet corner with someone who may or may not have been his wife. He was maintaining a pretty low profile until I said “ How’s it going Ellery ? “ as I was leaving.
  6. Wales have been lucky so far. The got a dozen point start against England courtesy of the ref and then played against 14 men against Ireland and Scotland. I fancy France to beat them this weekend.
  7. By any measure he should have been fired by now. Current form, league position, number of goals scored, abysmal lack of entertainment on show. You name it, it’s the pits. It’s killing the support base. We’ll be lucky to get 7,500 home fans next season if a change isn’t made.
  8. It’s hard to say what would get him the sack. If Jack had have been here he would have been gone about 2 years ago.
  9. I can’t do links but in today’s Sunday Observer New Review there’s a photograph taken of the audience at a wresting event at King Georges Hall in Blackburn on the 27th of November 1987. Along with the obligatory little old ladies there are a couple of people who may recognise themselves.
  10. I saw the tries. I thought the final pass to the French winger for their second try was a forward pass. Not by a lot but just enough. They don’t seem to bother in Union as long as it’s not a mile forward.
  11. It was a red hot day as well. We did well to keep it to 3-0.
  12. I’m looking forward to the season being over. Just sick and tired of feeling this way. I now look forward to the international breaks, then my weekends aren’t ruined. What a way to run a football club in what is supposed to the entertainment industry !
  13. I watched both “ Unbelievable “ and “ Snowfall “ , both top class TV. If you can still get “ Giri-Haji “, that’s well worth a watch.
  14. Just watched the highlights. That’s what a Rovers team should look like. At it from the off, playing on the front foot, pressing hard all over the pitch, passing to running players, everybody getting a foot in, keeper on his toes etc. Good to watch.
  15. I was at that game, we played really well that day, I thought we were going up after that. Won 3-1 in front of a good crowd of 15,362. Scorers Ken Knighton, Brian Hill, John Connelly. Maybe that photo is Connelly in the act of scoring ? Eamon Rogers played right back in an emergency and looked a natural. Team Blacklaw Rogers, Hunter, Mulvaney, Wilson. Connelly, Metcalfe, Knighton, Hill Martin, Darling.
  16. This close season is crucial in my opinion.
  17. A pal of mine who is a Rochdale fan tells me the transfer of the wonder kid Baah to Man City is off. He failed the medical apparently.
  18. You can't both have had it !
  19. Just as sad as it was then.
  20. He's not good enough a defender at the moment to nail down a full time place as a conventional right back. I can see him being more successful further up the pitch.
  21. Having the ability to turn out of trouble with the ball instead of into it is a great skill to have. Simon Barker was particularly good at it, he must have had eyes in the back of his head.
  22. Don't torment yourself Jim, It's over for this season.
  23. What really lets him down is his ability to take the ball around the goalkeeper. You can't always get a scoring shot off.
