  1. Whoever was playing " full back "should have worked a lot harder to block that cross. All the lad did was jog on, then wave a foot in the air. Typical attacking player's attempt at a block. Half hearted. A real full back would have been launching himself feet first to block that ball in. OK, the guy dummies the cross and you go sliding off the pitch, but you've bought the centre halves time and the lad in the middle may now over run the ball. If Smith scores there we would have been back to square one. Given his heading ability 9 times out of 10 that's a goal, we got lucky there. Previously this season little mistakes like that have ended up in the back of the net.
  2. Yes strange times. You can see the same thing happening in politics at the moment.
  3. Scholes was a nasty bastard on the pitch. All this about him fouling people because he didn't know how to tackle is nonsense. He knew exactly what he was doing. He didn't get bullied because if you fouled him you could put your house on the fact he'd get you back. He got away with murder. The point is you can't turn somebody into a nasty bastard on the pitch, they've either got it in them or they haven't.
  4. Trouble is when he's having an off day we don't look like scoring. It's not his fault we are set up that way but something needed to be changed late last autumn.
  5. I suspect Mowbray will bench at least one of them.
  6. He's playing it at the moment but I would suggest he's not ideally suited to the position. He'd go better playing along side another striker in a 4-4-2 formation. Just my opinion of course.
  7. Anybody who guesses the correct starting line up is wasted on here. I can't see it being the same as Saturdays and next Friday's will be different again.. Can we afford to pay Ayala for a game yet ?
  8. Nyambe won't be playing too close to the centre halves just because he feels like it. He's playing there because he's been told to play there. Most modern full backs play too close to the centre halves in my opinion but what do I know. Regarding JRC - was he the one that waved a foot at that cross that Smith should have scored from ?
  9. He's been asked to do too much. Right Back, auxillary Right Wing, Centre Half cover. We just need two full backs to defend properly and let the attacking players do their stuff.
  10. I can't see more than a handful starting Sat, Tues, Fri this week.
  11. It's over for Rhodes at our level. There should be no room for sentiment in football. That's if you want to win things that is.
  12. Cue Britt Assombolonga rumours. He seems to be another one on the way out.
  13. Sorry, you're wrong there. The lad can play in the last third. Corry's never been there.
  14. He'd be an improvement over what we've got at the moment, that's for sure. My issue is - has he been found out at Sheff Utd and that's his only way of playing ? I'm impressed by the way he's kept them plugging away although they were dead and buried by Xmas and their squad is pretty poor.
  15. Yes, a nice ball to the left back - who should have been a couple of yards wider out if I'm being picky. He made it easier for Buckley but harder for himself. I like players who can spread the play effectively though. The ref got in a decent position and then allowed himself to be unsighted by other players. You can't give what you don't see. Although some refs would have done !
  16. Much as I'd like to play the same team - Sat, Millwall - Tue, Swansea - Fri, Brentford means that changes are inevitable. The only good thing is there isn't any travelling involved.
  17. Come on matey, the ball to Gallagher was worth the £10 fee alone. Speed of thought and a lovely touch. If that had been a certain midfield player not far from here ?
  18. The run for the Dack " trip " was a great piece of play. It deserved a goal.
  19. And we scored first with a lucky deflection. . That makes a big difference. Lucky goals are better than ordinary goals in one respect, you start to think " This is going to be our day for once ".
  20. I'll remember him as the guy who wasted 3 seasons and £12 million in the process if he goes in Summer.
  21. Having a target man who is prepared to turn a bad pass into a good pass with pure willingness to chase balls down is a massive asset in every team. That's one of the things that made Bellamy and Speedie such difficult opponents. Size isn't everything in a striker. I don't think Armstrong is as keen to chase lost causes as Dolan is. Dolan's got a trick or two on the ball, Armstrong is just pure pace.
  22. I like the lad but he was playing in the first half wasn't he ?
  23. If they'd have played a bit more instead of just watching they wouldn't be taken in so easily.
  24. Two draws would do me in our next two games, keep the little bit of momentum going.
