  1. We only miss him because we have to play Beck in his position instead of further forward. Pickering is deeply average as a left back. Beck will be twice the full back Pickering will ever be, he’s got pace and aggression for a start.
  2. You pick your games ! One of the classics, along with the 7-2 demolition of the mighty Spurs.
  3. When I was a kid it was all Spurs, then it was Leeds, then Liverpool. Kids at school in Rochdale being Spurs fans ? I take my hat off to the kids who were Rochdale fans down the years.
  4. Leeds were better on the ball than us at Ewood.
  5. He didn’t have the luck he deserved.
  6. I was expecting a Berkovic or Bohinen style player when we signed Cantwell. The sort of player that says - “ Give me the bloody ball, I’ll sort this out “.
  7. Much as I hate the chicken chokers results like this have been going on as long as I’ve been watching Rovers. In my first season 60 years ago we were drawn away at Fulham in the FACup. We got a good 2-2 draw. On the Monday we drew the dingles in the next round if we win the replay. Come the replay at Ewood a 0-1 shocker in front of a good crowd. Just never turned up. Since then if I’d a £1 for every result like todays I’d be rich.
  8. We’d get over run with Cantwell back there. The lad must be the slowest player at the club.
  9. Howling’ Wolf - The Red Rooster
  10. Before Tronstad arrived I was usually pulling my hair out at the number of free shots opponents had from in and around the “ D” . Quite a few ended up in the back of our net. That doesn’t seem to happen anything like as often now. Of course in could all be a coincidence but I think it’s down the player patrolling that area.
  11. He’s not a bad passer of the ball either. Let’s not forget he’s playing in the hardest position on the pitch. Anybody doubting that - have a go yourself.
  12. Almost any club in this division could be seen as more attractive. None of them are run by idiots like the chicken chokers. The next calamity is always just around the corner. The only reason for him to stay here would be that he’s really unlikely to be sacked. If we’d have gone down last season Eustace wouldn’t have even been near to the sack.
  13. We wouldn’t see enough of the cash to do anything other than get beaten every week.
  14. We’ve got the Leeds away match before the Burnley game. I agree about Travis. He was the one player we really needed.
  15. Gally was 6’4” but who would you rather play against, the likes of Gally or the likes of David Speedie or Paul Dickov ? It’s not how big you are it’s how big you play. From what I’ve seen of Leonard he’s not a physical player, doesn’t really lead the line etc, not a particularly energetic presser etc. He’s a penalty box operator, ok for bringing on like we did the other day when we needed somebody to find a space in a crowded goal mouth.
  16. Score first and the roof will come off.
  17. We tried that with Gueye and Ohashi at Millwall, it didn’t work. And Ohashi has a lot more about him than Leonard has. Plus it meant we had to shove Cantwell out wide left where he looked like a fish riding a bike.
  18. It’s beyond fixing. There’s nobody out there that can sort the Red Rats out
  19. I remember him getting the only goal in a 1-0 home win against Everton. He made it look really easy.
  20. I’m not a Hedges fan but I agree with that. ACD should be on the bench and replace Dolan at some point in the game. I might even rest Cantwell and give Buckley a go there. We’ve got to rest players. The game are coming at a ridiculous rate.
  21. That attempted shot yesterday was really pathetic. I’d be shocked to see a school boy try a shot like that.
  22. Cantwell is a luxury player. He’s not out there to do a “ Travis “. He’s there to do the unexpected and create chances. As I’ve said before players come in two groups. The group that get you on top in the game and the group that will murder the opposition once the first group have got you on top. Cantwell belongs in the second group. Like somebody once about Bobby Charlton. “ A team of Bobby Charlton’s would never win anything because they’d never have the ball. “. They need other players to get them the ball. I didn’t see yesterday’s game but I saw the Millwall game and playing out wide he was hardly involved at all. I don’t think he’s set the world on fire so far, I was expecting a bit more demanding of the ball like Eyal Berkovic used to do. Maybe he never will never set the world on fire but I think we need to persist with him.
  23. The Yardbirds - Got To Hurry
  24. Yeah, if you want a non scoring , injury prone, centre forward then Gally is your man. I wouldn’t have him back on a free, even if he offered to play for nothing.
  25. Not every cross has to be a high one. A low hard cross into the “ area of uncertainty “ can be just as dangerous. Brittain is good at those. How many times do you see a defender stick out a foot and score an own goal ? Hyam, I’m thinking of you.
