  1. It won't be about ability tonight, it'll be about who want's it the most.
  2. I never ever walked out onto the pitch without a picture in my head of my team winning. I've lost count of how many losing games I played in but I always started out with a positive attitude. That includes a 16-2 loss as a young lad.
  3. I've said it before but I think Chapman was only signed to shut his fan club up.
  4. Yes he asked for a transfer when we appeared to be going nowhere and he was a marked man, in more ways than one, every week. Then the Ferguson, McEvoy ,Pickering, Douglas, Harrison forward line emerged and he decided to come off the list. Roma made enquiries about signing him after the 1962 World Cup. I'm reading a book my wife bought me that consists of newspaper accounts of Rovers games through the years. In the report of the famous 7-2 thrashing of Spurs ( for the youf of today that was like beating the current Liverpool team by the same score ) it states that Bill Nicholson, the Spurs manager, walked into the boardroom at Ewood after the game and said " Name your price for Douglas ". Obviously the offer was turned down. Ronnie told me that several clubs were interested in him over the years, Arsenal and Wolves were two he mentioned, but he was always happy at Ewood.
  5. Teams win " every loose ball " for a reason. Do you think Travis and Nyambe will be here this time next season ? You must be seeing another back four to the one I'm seeing. It's entirely possible that none of them will be at Ewood next August.
  6. Absolutely pointless argument. What does it say in today's paper ? Mine says Blackburn Rovers 0 - Fulham 1.
  7. It's the thing about the chairman mentioning a game at Rotherham and implying that he doesn't relish the physical side of the game that did it for me. We've got more than our fair share of faint hearts already in my opinion.
  8. Yeah, not my style of player. We don't want any more players who's hearts aren't in it.
  9. Another season standing still is another season actually going backwards.
  10. That sums up my feelings. The team play in the image of the manager. Predictable, dull, uninspiring. Laboured passing, not enough movement off the ball, players going through the motions knowing they'll still get a game next week. Listening to Mowbray on the radio being followed by Neill was like your TV going from black and white to colour. It was a totally different outlook and way of seeing how games should be played. I hate saying that but it's true.
  11. I listened to his interview on Radio Lancs and then the one with Alex Neill at Preston. Absolutely chalk and cheese. One would talk a glass eye to sleep the other was full of enthusiasm and aggressive intent. Tony's view was JRC will never replace the likes of Dack or Holtby if he lives to be a thousand !
  12. Could be or 4-3-3 with Travis-Johnson-Downing in the middle 3 and Gallager-Armstrong-Rankin Costello up front. Or it could be a mixture of the two systems with and without the ball.
  13. I can't imagine us having a better chance of promotion than this season.
  14. I don't think he's at that level yet.
  15. From what I read Brexit is going to make hunting for players in the European market at lot more difficult. Especially regarding the sort of lower ranking European players we'll be looking at in the future.
  16. I'm frankly amazed by that. It would have been my first question.
  17. He reminded me of David Speedie style wise.
  18. Just before my time at Burnley but I saw him play at all his subsequent clubs, Bolton, Bury and Barrow. He was a top player in his day at a time when every team had two good wingers. RIP.
  19. I've been away from the board for the last few days and I haven't really got time to go back through 8 pages. Just one question for attendees - was the signings of Brererton and Gallagher discussed ?
  20. I think his form at Chesterfield previously had got him in the public eye.
  21. Given the injury situation in attacking midfield/strikers area of the pitch he would have probably got a game or two now.
