I remember another Liverpool game , might have been that game though, were the Liverpool fans didn’t bother going via the Riverside but went straight down the pitch like a scene from the film “ Zulu “. -

He was never going to leave Pears out today no matter what. It would be too early to throw the new guy in, it looks like it’s motivated Pears anyway. -

I think he will. Guyere is our No 1 striker. I can see Yuki coming on after an hour though. -

Travis was crafty there, he hid behind their centre half when the keeper got the ball then he sprang out as soon as the pass was made. -

He’s got quick feet, he’s two footed and he makes his mind up early. Two great goals today, Sammi would have been proud of those. -

Just looked up the team for that game - 4-3-3 I presume. Jones Eccles, Hunter, Mulvaney, Wilson Goodwin, Knighton, Rogers Metcalfe, Martin, Connelly Darling sub for Rogers - possibly as a result of that collision with their keeper. We finished in 8th place that season. -

Anything up over half way will be a success for me. Play offs will be an absolute triumph. Beat the dingles at Ewood and it’s “ Freeman Of The Borough “ territory. -

It used to happen all the time at Ewood. When I got on the ground I’d wait in the middle of the Riverside and move to whatever end we were attacking when we kicked off. At half time I’d make my way to the other end. Usually we attacked the Blackburn End in the second half if we could. -

Tijon played the last 20 minutes for the U-21’s so I suspect he won’t be playing. -

They had the better of the first half. We had the better of the second half inspite of losing two goals. Stritch missed a sitter of an header before they scored. For the first goal they had two men back nearer the half way line for the corner and the taker, plus the keeper back. So I make that 7 attacking the ball and 11 defending it yet they still scored. For the second goal it was worse because they kept three back out of the box and we still couldn’t clear the ball sucessfully. Nobody was great, we look really short of a cutting edge. We were over playing the ball forward and too many players wanted to take a touch too many. Lyon were workmanlike and physical but they didn’t have any players I’d like to see at Rovers. Their No7 looked handy in the first half but faded. Our No 4 had a great run in the first half that deserved a goal and I thought he was our best. I agree the left back played well also. The keeper didn’t make a save and picked two out of the net. His distribution was decent but he’s there to keep the ball out of the net. A shout out to Accy Stanley for making a real effort to put the game on and make everybody welcome.; -

You need to keep ‘em guessing. Go inside and outside. Work on your “ Weaker Foot ) constantly. -

I thought it was a decent performance against a Finland side who came and parked the bus. We never really looked like losing at any point. I was a bit concerned with our defence when they cut us open in the first half. Gomez was good on the ball but was easily bypassed when Finland came at us through the middle. I’d like to see how we go on against the better teams but that’s not going to happen. I’m not a fan of the wingers constantly coming inside onto their “ stronger “ foot and compressing play. Saka does it nearly all the time and then the player who came on to replace him was exactly the same. It just causes bunching of attackers and defenders in and around the penalty area so it’s hard to get a shot off. -

I liked what I saw in that little cameo he had the other night. He looks to be a very busy player. -
