  1. Mysteriously ? Did you watch the game ? He wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes in todays football. He wanted to referee the game as well as play in it.
  2. Looks like he’s hanging on your every word !
  3. Yeah that’s true. I remember Forest playing a top German team in the old European Cup. Forest had footballed the German team to death but just couldn’t score. The Germans were defending masterfully. Then with the last kick of the game the Forest keeper belted a long ball down field, both German centre halves went for the same ball and collided, missing the ball altogether. A Forest striker ran on to it and banged it into the net. 1-0
  4. One things for sure, the training ground will be buzzing after the weekend.
  5. I go back to the early sixties and they’ve always been the same. It’s nothing new. Poor man’s Man Utd fans in that respect.
  6. Four pages of chat already and the game is a fortnight off. A sign of the times. Last year nobody was interested half of the time.
  7. We’ll have a better chance in January at Ewood.
  8. There are plenty of ways to score goals. Saturday’s was a perfect example. From our keeper to the back of their net with two bounces ! Classic ale house team goal. I loved it. There’s still a lot of skill involved. Good long ball out from Pears to our striker, he out jumps the defenders and flicks on a perfectly judged header and Weimann hits a beauty into the far corner.
  9. I was surprised to see Duru come on at the death. If we’d have been chasing the game and looking for an equaliser I could have understood it better. A bit of pace out wide. But we weren’t, we were trying to hold on to a vital point. I’d have thought JRC was a better bet in those circumstances. Fair play to Eustace, he knows the players better than any of us. However he did say he was fuming when the kid gave away a free kick in a dangerous area. On another point, Duru and Beck must be the youngest pair of full backs we’ve ever fielded along with two with the shortest surnames.
  10. Who else tells a coach that he can’t leave when he’s made it plain that his time is up ? Complete madness. Only under the Chicken Chokers.
  11. I’d agree, in my opinion not all of the ball crossed all of the line, but it was close. Scratch that off, the score was still 3-2 and the best team won. I speak as somebody who backed West Germany to win the cup after I saw them demolish Switzerland 5-0. I got 10-1 at the time.
  12. Being honest with you and given our lack of real financial fire power we’re more likely to get promoted playing the way we did on Saturday than we are trying to out football teams with much more money than we have. In my eyes that’s always been the case. Luton got promoted just like Burnley did. One club spent next to nothing and one spent a fortune but the end result was the same.
  13. I think that’s the plan. Beck would be faster than Pickering running backwards.
  14. He’s better playing nearer to the striker, out on the wing he can be over elaborate.
  15. Yeah, l learnt a long while ago - never get involved with the officials. There’s no mileage in it.
  16. The ref sensed he was losing control so he was trying to regain it with a card. Plus the Burnley player made a right meal of it.
  17. I Eustace is ruthless enough to drop anybody if he thinks he can improve the team. “ Get rid of the bad players before they get rid of you “.
  18. I’m not talking Premier League, I’m talking ambitious Championship sides that might start struggling - Hull or Sheff Wed say, even Leeds or Boro. There’s plenty that want out of this division, unfortunately we aren’t one of them.
  19. Strikers scored more goals back in the day because the emphasis then was on attack and getting the ball into goal scoring areas. When you played with two out and out strikers and two wingers supplying the chances you couldn’t fail.
  20. There was a lot of pace on the pass as well, but there had to be to get the ball through. The more I see of Guyere the more I like, that was a really good ball to Dolan. Great header down for the goal as well. As someone else said - very Jim Fryatt.
  21. Well, they’re still looking up the league table at an unbeaten Blackburn Rovers, that’s for sure.
  22. it won’t be long before holding on to him will become an issue unfortunately.
  23. I thought that as well. I also thought Dolan’s first touch was heavy, taking him too close to goal and leaving a shot his only option. On another point, when shooting in that position - go higher, not along the ground.
