Despite the stick he gets on here, Pears is average championship keeper standard I would say. His problem is, with a week to go to the new season all teams surely have a first choice keeper sorted now. I doubt he wants to play second fiddle, so he's not in an ideal situation..... I can see Buckley going to league 1 or even 2 purely on loan though as his wages will be a stretch for most teams. He will sulk about the place wherever he goes, if anywhere.

Not sure how Nixon can diagnose the requirement for surgery or quote recovery timescales unless he's VERY close to medical staff at the club. I would have thought surgery is pretty rare, it isn't a serious injury, just an annoyance.

In fairness he was absolutely prolific at youth level, not sure what's gone on since, injuries, possibly home sick as well, either way it's been a waste of time for all parties. Does anyone know if he even played when he went on loan to Lierse? Can't see any records 🤔

Bit weird when we spent a good few days in Spain as well. I find it extremely hard to believe there's anything in that Gueye story, I doubt clubs over there even know he exists! He's frustrating sometimes, to the extent you'd think he's won a raffle prize to play, then he can do something 5 minutes later and you think actually he looks OK. He's a useful squad player and would be a huge shame IMO if he left, not just because of his footballing ability but it's impossible to not like someone so smiley and quite frankly off their tits. Probably helps He's paid handsomely like. You'd imagine he can get slightly better/more consistent this season too.

I like the look of Miller, potentially our modern day Lucas Neill. Not just because of his nationality but physical attributes and playing style. Pretty much the same size and in the athletic mould. I don't particularly want Brittain to leave but he has a price and you do have to remember last season really was his standout one. Ideal scenario would be him signing the contract he deserves but I think we know that's not happening.

When VI came here his stock wasn't particularly high and doubt he had offers piling up. JDT had just won a few titles and his managerial career was on the up. To a lesser extent Eustace will have had interested parties too, his time at Brum ended prematurely in most people's eyes. There was probably much less of a reason to sell VI the dream, aka blatantly bullshit to him, his expectations may be much lower as a result.....
