Apparently Rovers are so happy with the attendance tonight, they are going to let season ticket holders into all the home league games for free for the rest of the season - keep it under your hats... -
Make sure you let lovejoy know how we re looking forward to playing his beloved team in the cup and that they may need some germolene for it...

His start for the club still isn't a bad as Reids - he was a bloody shambles. But look at him now! I am sure he will come good, though I wouldn't be starting him perhaps... -
Look on the bright side, no one would expect us to win. Better than losing away to Notts County or something! I reckon we can take em...

Odds on the gap staying in place longer than a few hours? 1/3, with a £150,000 bet having been placed by a Mr All De Dice in a brown envelope from a Swiss bank. -

Selling Speedie. Buying Dahlin. Not for his contribution but it didn't half cost us... -

Why would they? I am sure they wouldn't want to take any money out of the game, because in the long run it will affect thier pockets too. I wonder if FCUM are corruption free? -

Yeah, no damning evidence really. Certainly no more than the rumours that have been going around recently anyway... -

I was dragged to rugby yesterday to watch warrington play st helens, and I have to admit that ewood park can learn a lot from them. There was always something going on on the pitch entertainment wise and the bloke doing the 'mc'ing made an attempt to liven up the atmnosphere. Dancers, intellegent use of music (thier rivals ran out to every day i love you less and less), and a penalty challenge, aside from the usual lottery draws etc. The mascot they had was unusually entertaining too. Now I'm not saying that putting dancers on at halftime will give us capacity crowds, but at least more poeple will feel as though they are getting value for money, which should go some way to reversing the trend.

I didn't see the game at all, and I agree fully. -
That would be a great pic for spot the ball. It is in totally the wrong place.

One goal in four games from a team that bought twelvety million strikers in the close season is a poor do, i've always said. Now I am in a quandary. Do I go for optimism, as required of a football fan, or the cynicism as a Rovers fan? 2-0 to Rovers, Hey Nonny Nonda and Pedersen Gamst. Ironically I did spell Mort's name wrong, but I do struggle with names longer than five letters... -

[Archived] Holiday Reading
Wolverine replied to colin's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Been reading the Bourne trilogy by Robert Ludlum. The Bourne Identity starts in similar fashion to the film, but drifts gradually until it is unrecognisable. The Bourne Soupremacy so far is vastly different. They are ok reads if you can stand the daft dialogue and can put your brain in 'lo-tech past mode'. Really enjoyed Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. It's all mixed up and odd with vastly different stories and writing styles. Also like The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nightime by Mark Haddon. It's written from the pov of a child with aspergers and is quite thought provoking. Other recommends are Yes Man by Danny Wallace, and A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson - superb holiday reading. Then again, I can read the Red Dwarf Omnibus over and over... -

As I arrived at the ground, I felt tinge of irony listening to 'I Predict A Riot', what with the rumours of a Burnley invasion. However, waiting for the riot with the Dingle's was much like waiting for Mido to sign a contract. Standing up was quite a novelty for a while, but we are quite spoilt with all this sitting down lark. Seeing as the wife is pregnant, she just went ahead and sat down anyway. It was good to see a bit of action for the rovers after all this time (have we really had a world cup since the end of the season?), with the following players impressing: Gallagher - Looked like his loan spells have given him confidence and tenacity. Roberts - Difficult for Accy to get him off the ball. Brown - One to watch for the future I feel. Khizanishvili - Looked a little faster than normal. Or maybe it was cos they don't put names on shirts in friendlies and the extra few kilo's of letter weren't weighing him down. Jeffers - Not the shambles many would lead us to belive. Derbyshire - showed composure, could be his chance this year... Other points of fun were the compere who was probably well behind Glenn with info, heckling the stanley players (GET ON THAT POST SOMEONE...), wondering why all lids were confiscated off bottles ("It's so you don't throw them on the field", which is fine until some nob threw a stella bottle on), and the stanley fans cheering as though they scored if they got so much as a corner. Funnily enough, none f them noticed the rather large rovers flag flying just behind them! An interesting game, and while it isn't possible to draw too much from it as it is a friendly against lesser opposition, there are plenty of plus points. Hopefully Roberts' injury isnot too bad... -
