  1. Are we talking about the same Newcastle who had gates around the 12k mark back in the early 80's..DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!
  2. ''My point still stands, Blackburn is not a footballing town IMHO. Incidently I wouldn't say Middlesbrough is either.'' Dave, I respect your opinion but I'm REALLY trying to understand that comment. What constitutes a footballing town then?..........
  3. I understand your point fully OD ..compared to say the Geordies or even fans of Everton our supporter 'passion' comes a very bad second...is it me or do people from Blackburn seem more laid back in their attitudes?
  4. We could do better on the support side at the moment in my opinion but that doesn't equate to Blackburn as not being a football town does it OD! Non footballing towns dont take 30K supporters 200+ miles to watch them play in the mighty full members cup or have record gates of 62k do they...sorry mate, no offence but I thought your comment was as far from reality as possible.
  5. I can clearly remember some fantastic 5,000+ away followings back then Dave in the 'bad old days' that at the time belittled the clubs position.
  6. WOH!,WOH!!WOH!!!.....I'm sorry Ossydave but to call Blackburn a non footballing town is ludicrous in the least! We are, despite our falling support, STILL one of the best supported 'town teams' in the UK and our club has a tradition many so called bigger city clubs would die for.....BACK OFF FELLA!!
  7. The club is sadly losing the battle, they can do no more..... The snide remark from opposing fans about our support being 'plastic' appears to be coming home to roost....we are running out of excuses and we ALL know it.
  8. ''And why are we never chosen to host England games? I know we had the U21s against Greece, but surely we deserve more than that!'' Mmmmm interesting comment, always thought grounds had to have a capacity of roughly over 33k to hold an England international....didn't they play against Croatia at PORTMAN RD not too long ago??? Agreed,Long overdue on East Lancashire soil.
  9. ''Can I point out that approximately 60000 English fans have visited Portugal over the past 2 weeks. There has been approximately 30 arrests.'' What a marvellous statistic surely only the ENGLISH could be so well behaved...................
  10. And a big clap to those people!.... take money from Rovers and put it into the coffers of the opposing team, the genius if it
  11. ''But what is odd, with England the joy of a big win (not felt it much) or the sorrow of a tournament loss seems to last longer and run deeper than a similar event with Rovers. Rovers win and losses I get over the happiness or sadness much quicker. '' I'm completely the opposite USA, it would take a lot of time for me to get any say domestic cup final defeat for Rovers out of my system compared to an En-ger-land defeat....everyone to their own I suppose!
  12. Chelsea are turning into the biggest joke since Burnleh fc were formed and thats saying something!......the whole club and setup are completely false. People have a go at Rovers so-called 'Plastic support'(blah, blah, blah) but their neuvo 'fans' are no better as I can remember attendances of around 20K for some games in the early to mid 90's at the Bridge. Comparisons to Jack Walker? dont even go there...Abramovich is on a massive ego trip, nothing more nothing less,he cares not a dot for chelsea's past traditions nor for the feeling or opinion of its support....a dangerous type to have at the helm of any club in my opinion.
  13. Very well put Manc Blue, couldn't agree more.If 'entertainment value' was the main reason for renewing of season tickets then admittedly we'd probably be down to about 1,000 season ticket holders after last seasons poor fare but gladly we have better fans than that who no doubt remember the bad days of the 70's and 80's..... WE'VE STILL NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD FOLKS!
  14. ''It might not be as much as a fan pays for their season ticket at another club, but so what? In my opinion £1,000 is a lot to pay for 2 season tickets and I could do a lot of things with it.'' To reiterate again 92er if cost is the main issue for you, you and your mrs could sit in the Riverside for roughly £500 and still be able to 'do a lot of things' with the other saved £500....with all the financial initiatives Rovers have done for the coming season I personally refuse to believe that cost is a viable excuse for non-renewal. WHERE'S THE LOYALTY?
  15. ''I think that the renewal deadline was too early '' Totally agree, why clubs do this to their supporters i'll never know, it certainly cant help with sales when people are asked to find the coin in such a short space of time....some clubs have their season tickets on sale a month before the season finishes!
  16. ''With the announcement of Ferguson as the captain, players like himself, Thommo, Jay and possibly new signings the amount of season ticket holders will increase.'' Where does your evidence for this increase come from Roversismylife?.....Rovers have seen a steady season by season decline in season ticket numbers while almost all other Premiership clubs have reported increased sales, very depressing but fact.
  17. Pardon? It's certainly headline news if sales have slumped. Or is it a case that the club only likes to report "good" news. Agree with Jim,slightly surprised by your reply Lee to be honest, how many season tickets we have sold IS newsworthy and should concern everybody connected to B.R.F.C.... whether board member or Blackburn Ender!
  18. I applaud the move,a role that Fergy will excel in I feel
  19. I admire your optimism Hughesy I really do.27k!! we only managed slightly more than that the season after we won the Premierleague....if only pal,if only.
  20. I was hoping that some of this England/national pride football euphoria seen over the last fortnight might rub off on the season ticket sales and provide a bit of a timely boost..........hey ho,oh well Not good by all accounts.
  21. Dont get your hopes up too high, how many times have we been let down in the past.......
