Honestly I swear that's happened every single match for years - probably since BBD left (not that he was fast, but he was quick enough). I know teams advance scout obsessively and look at the metrics, but it always seems to take them some time during the match against Rovers to go "ey up, they've got no pace, let's push up". To be fair I think the problems started occurring after half time when Gueye was clearly out of steam. He was stretching them before that.

Travis was good again today - got around the pitch, broke up play and didn't give the ball away. If you just ask him to be a nuisance and only play the way he's facing he's effective. As much as I liked JDT he definitely arrived with a system and stubbornly tried to fit players into it (and to be fair I think a good number of players massively improved under his coaching). Eustace seems to have designed a style of play around the players available to him. He's never asked Travis to play on the half turn.

He's a CM I think - could probably play that AMC role too. He's never a wide player, he can't run by anyone.

Pace opens up everything - yes it'll allow you to counter attack, but it also stretches the field. At the moment if we don't immediately shift it the opposition always have the pace to get back into position and get set, such is the lack of pace in our side.

You're not getting another CF I don't think. Gueye and Ohashi rotating at that position with Leonard to come back. Desperately need a couple of quick wingers, which would improve us no end (would allow JRC to play RB / CM and Dolan / Sigurdsson to play AMC).

I'd bomb Pears out of the club entirely - you can't play him at this level.

We look undercooked - don't know if the pre-season wasn't long enough or they're pacing themselves, but some players were running in treacle after about 50 minutes today.
