  1. Wait until Carlton Palmer hears about this, he'll be livid.
  2. Might as well flog A. Wharton while the offer is on the table then 'cos that's not a serious way to run a promotion campaign.
  3. Where have you heard that? I'd be livid if I was Kaminski - I had assumed he wasn't fully fit post-surgery, if he was kept out of the team by Pears on 'form' then I'd be asking to leave too as he's a much better player.
  4. Two poor teams at Stamford Bridge - the difference being Awoniyi (£20m btw) rising above and between the two Chelsea CBs and the GK to head home Forest's only chance. Having said that, Sterling has just equalised.
  5. Steele was pathetic against Everton - looked like a poor L1 GK playing in the Prem... which is exactly what he is.
  6. It's not that I think Kaminski is as good as some of the standout GKs we've had in the last 30 years, it's that you know he's a competent Championship GK and we're pushing for the playoffs next year (by all accounts - the project is off the rails if we don't). Pears is a decent backup, but he's not a starting quality GK in the Championship, he has too many flaws in his game.
  7. Fine, as long as we get a decent fee and bring in a #1 to replace him. Letting him go, starting Pears and having Hilton et al as the backup is shooting yourself in the foot regardless of what you do with our forward line (or lack thereof).
  8. As I said in the transfer window thread, if the plan is to start Pears and sell Kaminski I'd like my season ticket money back, please. He's clearly not good enough to be a starter - I hope these are backup wages in this new contract.
  9. Absolutely zero mention of the contract length. I'd definitely be renting if I was him.
  10. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/karma-carlton-palmer-delivers-blackburn-rovers-sunderland-verdict-concerning-tony-mowbray/ Oh dear, Carlton Palmer - what a prick.
  11. You say bottle job, I say we've got the ghost of Brereton-Diaz, Gallagher, Hedges and Dolan upfront.
  12. JRC is one for me there - always thought he was a talented player (albeit limited athletically), but he doesn't take shit from anyone. His attitude is bang on.
  13. If Broughton can't find 3-4 quality attacking players on frees for the £40k+ wages that are (hopefully) walking in the summer in Brereton-Diaz, Dack and Ayala then unfortunately he's not worth his salary.
  14. He's not daft - he'll have walked onto Brockhall in his first training session and thought "yep, this squad is 4+ transfer windows away from competing". He's stuck true to that vision, albeit he was badly let down in the 2nd transfer window (I thought the 3 permanent signings we brought in during the summer were excellent).
  15. Personally I enjoyed grinding out wins pre-World Cup. I've also enjoyed the football we've played post-World Cup... I just wish we'd signed a striker in January as it's made the last 6 months extremely frustrating. To me JDT has been a breath of fresh air - a manager that doesn't belittle his employer, that looks to promote and develop youth and takes the cup competitions seriously.
  16. No chance - both will have to rebuild their reputations elsewhere. Can see them both slinking off to full-time punditry work tbh.
  17. Radio Lancashire hate Rovers - I've never quite worked out why. I assume either our Comms / PR team are arrogant / difficult to work with, or a lot of the producers / presenters grew up as fans of other teams when Rovers were the big dog in the county and it's scarred them for life. My dad an I call it Radio PNE, they bloody love Preston.
  18. It's nothing to do with the 'project / model'. Mowbray and Venus never actually had a plan. By the time Broughton and JDT got here it was too late to sell Brereton-Diaz - last year of his contract and very little time to find a replacement, we're in a relegation battle without his goals. He'd agreed a Bosman by the time January came around. I have a love-hate relationship with Ben - as one of the few people on here that saw a player in him during the early days it's been gratifying to watch him score 40+ goals over the last few years. In the same vein it was infuriating to see him go into his shell during the last 6 months after signing his new deal with Villarreal when we were desperate for his goals. Like Travis, to me he's a Mowbray stalwart that doesn't fit the new system we're playing, so I think ultimately we'll be better off without him, but I sure would have liked £10m+ to rebuild the team.
  19. He's the epitome of a confidence player, he only turned up against Millwall after he scored his first goal - which fell very kindly for him. After that he was brimming with confidence again and actually wanted the ball.
  20. I'd like to see Buckley alongside A. Wharton as the starting pair in CM next season.
  21. He left us with no strikers. He also had nothing to do with the development of Carter, Joe Rankin-Costello and Adam Wharton who have all come to the fore this season and been key contributors. I have nothing but disdain for the man.
