[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone

Sure tehre was a stat a couple of weeks ago saying something along the lines of 'shots on target 7 - goals scored 6' or something like that. I recall at the time that if he hits the target he scores!!! -

Its just Jim being Jim, he loved Dwight Yorke at one stage too. But he does raise one valid point, He did get the UEFA cup selection wrong in my eyes. 1 up front when we needed to score goals was not the way forward. Still I certainly wouldn't swap him with any other manager in the league. I'd love to see our expenditure on transfers over the last 3 seasons, think we are running a very tight ship at the moment. I'll have a look at the Henry Winter article now, he's always been very complementry about us in the past. -
Looking forward to seeing it Colin. Like I said earlier on this thread I've been tracking the film for a couple of years now.

Every time I hear you talk about Managers I have a little chuckle to myself. Paul Sturrock wasn't it ???

My mte's a City fan and is gutted that they missed out on Santa Cruz. As for Benni, 20 goals in 42 games and people question that he doesn't work hard enough!!! Well he's working hard enough to get into those positions and bang in the goals. that's good enough for me. We have been crying out for a 20 goals a season striker for years, the first time we have one in about 10 years and people are moaning about it. -
Brilliant artcile and really shows how much work goes on behind the scenes Looks like Hughes has really bought in a lot of new techniques and monitering.
-
Gotta agree with you Pleasure. Been reading about the film for a couple of years now and just looking forward to seeing it.

What does interest me is comments Mark Hughes made a while ago. It regsitered with me at the time, he was asked about release clauses and specifically said 'we don't thave to worry about release clauses this season' or something along those lines. Just thought it was a bit of an odd answer at the time. -

I can echo the praise for Ghosts. Had the pleasure of seeing them support the feeling recently and was very impressed. Seen pretty much everyone I wanted to see this year to be honest. I suppose that was one of the bonus's of going to Live Earth. -

Abbey, I'm not a Motley Crue fan but I did read their autobiography recently. It was recommended by a friend and was an amazing read. To be fair it's absolutely amazing that they are on stage together with what they have been through, probably more amazing that they are all actually still alive. It was touch and go with Nicki Sixx at one stage. -

Just listened to Boxer by the National. Not a bad CD at all. Probably needs another listen but quite like it. -
Good decision for us but a bad one for his england career. There are other players in the squad who have had long seasons as well.

My Beckham England shirt can be bought out of ritirement and I can add Bentley 7 on my new one. I wonder who'll get the nod on Friday. I'll be there and I'll be hoping to see a Bentley debut.

I think you're way off the mark here. We had Reid missing for the whole of this season and we also had Savage out for half a season. You cant say the 4 place difference in the league was down to Bellamy / McCarthy -

Nope, but I will mention Arcade Fire's Neon Bible. It's quality. I actually got into Arcade Fire via Hollyoaks. They sometimes play Rebellion (Lies) on there, it's a quality song so I got hold of Neon Bible off a mate, not bad at all. -

The press have Benni wanting to reunite with his old Prto manager at Chelsea. Not a good start to the summer. If they want him it has to be 10m minimum. If Bent's (charlton) being touted at 12 Benni must be worth the same as him. If anyone wants him then they can pay top money for him, oif not he stays. -
Woolworths have them in stock at £179.99 including wii sports http://www.woolworths.co.uk/ww_p2/product/...ml?pid=50778342

20 goals. Surely that says it all. How some people can say get rid of a player who has scored 20 goals is beyond me. This is his first season in the Prem, we have seem very very big money players fail to make anywhere near the impression Benni has. It takes time to adjust to the Prem, we need to keep him and get him a decent partner up front. It would be daft to even consider selling him. -
Well I was one of the thousands who booed ginger sven off the pitch at half time. How we can be 0'0 after 45 minutes against that lot is a disgrace. Its time the players and the coaching staff took a good look at themselves. Steve McLaren is not the right man for the job, end of!! Anyway, off to bed now. feeling fairly wrecked now and have the prospect of 2 days on the lash in Dublin to come. Leave Barca at 10.00 in the morning. Goodnight all!!!!

Nice to see Bents and derbs celebrating together. Derbs ran straight to Bentley. Got a warm rovers glow at the moment.

Although I didnt watch the programme it is interesting that the Director was one Martin Durkin. Durkin produced a series for Channel 4 called Against Nature. There were a number of complaints from his interviewees and the ITC found that the views of the interviewees had been distorted by selective editing. Channel 4 was obliged to broadcast one of the most humiliating primetime apologies it has ever had to make. Also interesting to note that one of the interviewees on last nights programme was Paul Reiter, an "eminent scientist". His comments are interesting but it should probably be noted that Reiter is involved with no less than 4 organisations that receive funding from ExxonMobil. Don't believe all you see on the little box in the corner of the living room. -
I still think he might have a part to play in the run in. Get his confidence up with a good loan spell and then bring him into the team when he's firing on all cylinders.

The Ashley Day one was first reported here Somerset Rover. I put it on the front page a few days ago after picking up on it in the local press.

Don't think Liverpool would go in for him after his comments when he chose west Ham I personally think he'll end up goign abroad.
