  1. I know he can, I’m just outlining why he’s getting grief. He can pick who he likes, they are strolling through qualification, so obviously it’s working for him currently.
  2. Think back to the Coyle season, the owners were still getting plenty then. It’s only post a wholly avoidable one off season in L1 (where we largely strolled back up from) and a totally non-comparable club in Bury going bust, that large chunks of the fanbase now see these owners as our saviours, the only thing stopping 150 years of history going kaput. Whereas I would say these characters getting hold of our club will be the very thing that does lead us to the knackers yard…
  3. Which is fair enough, but does completely contradict his very public pronouncements over time that if you aren’t playing for your club, you won’t be playing for England. Like all things in public life, don’t make daft claims that will only make you a hostage to fortune.
  4. The bloke that wanted injury ruin for Szmodics now has a conscience, for, err, the Rao’s of all people 🤷‍♂️
  5. I’m with you Dreams, presumably it all has to reach a tipping point (unless this ownership outlives me) at some point in the medium-ish term, I just don’t think it’s yet.
  6. These people often make a career out of regurgitating all kinds of stats on various media platforms, so of course they will try and put them on some sort of level playing field with the actual, er, league table.
  7. Well that goes without saying, but at least they missed out on a proper jackpot.
  8. The idiot Walkers would have doubled their money (at least) if they’d have held on to the club for a couple of years until the next TV deal. Another family business containing a load of fools in the younger generations.
  9. Me and my Dad walked off the Wigan game and said ‘we’ll never see the Premier League’ again, nothing has happened since to alter that view.
  10. If this club was in the PL now it’d have absolutely no issue in getting sold for big money. 2010 was a totally different era, TV deals have exploded in value since 2013.
  11. “If we’re all saying everybody can be who they want to be and everybody is inclusive, then we’ll have to respect that. We’ll have to respect everyone. And by doing something like that, if that did disrespect the religion, then no, I’m not going to do that. But if the opportunity comes where I can do it and it doesn’t, then yeah, because that’s my values.” Some serious mental gymnastics there… ‘those are my principles, if you don’t like them? Well, I have others’
  12. It’s to do to with him doing the 100 metres faster than Usain Bolt at school or something. Regulars at Leyland will see plenty of evidence one way or another this season I’d imagine…
  13. He plays football the right way, supposedly…
  14. What difference does it make to the performances of the players and JDT if there isn’t a ‘positive attitude and belief’ on an obscure message board?
  15. Not really been implied with Pears, it’s been openly said, he’s had a chance, a sustained spell in the side, but he just hasn’t grasped it, largely because he is what he is, an average keeper, a number 2 at this level and it’s time for a change. However, nobody has even implied that Whalstedt is a superstar in the making largely because nobody has the foggiest idea if he’s any good, decent enough pedigree, but that’s about it.
  16. What’s wrong with being a beach bum? Played hard on and off the pitch, good for him.
  17. Who knows if the new keeper will be any cop, nobody had heard of the bloke a month ago, but he’s a Swedish international, we spent what is decent money for the modern day withered BRFC and the present incumbent isn’t inspiring confidence, so it’s time to give him a go. All this ‘sunlit uplands obviously with this new guy’, ‘well I’m looking forward to seeing this superstar brfcs reckon we’ve bought’ etc etc is the usual straw man hyperbole, more about needling the board than anything resembling what’s actually been said.
  18. No arguments there (just like there wasn’t last night), big events create big interest, that’s football fans the world over.
  19. There are also those fans that just go to away games anyway, not for ‘glory’, but because ‘Ewood’s shit’ and they want a day on the piss etc, always at PNE, Wigan etc.
  20. Protests don’t get rid of owners, finances dictate, be it selling for a juicy profit, or administration.
  21. To me the common denominator has been the lack of leadership and accountability on and off the pitch throughout this reign of terror.
  22. He has every right to ‘moan’ about it, a player was shipped out to a fellow Championship side an hour before the window shut without a replacement.
  23. He’s a number 2, a decent one, but that’s as far as it goes. He deserved a chance, and he’s certainly been given one, but it’s time.
  24. Never played? We’ve just left August, it’s a long and relentless season and it’s a squad game.
  25. Honestly still not sure, marton, yes they may have spotted some Indian names on the ‘board’ list, ‘Babu’ and the like… though then again we don’t even have a programme these days to spot such things. They may know of a ‘rep’ too (though I would wager most don’t), but they certainly won’t have a clue that he’s more powerful than the CEO and is the real decision maker. The amount of ignorance the ‘normal’ matchday fan still has about how this club operates after 12 years is very noticeable. Which suits the owners down to the ground.
