  1. If they hadn’t have opened the Riverside in the first place (like usual for cup ties), the crowd would have hardly even been mentioned. As soon as they announced that they had closed it, it’s been a week of angst. We’ll have c6.5/7k home fans there, which is absolutely standard for a cup tie against run of the mill opposition (especially midweek just before Christmas), it’s all been a very odd overreaction.
  2. No surprise that they are fetching plenty. First PL season for twenty plus years means getting tickets for standard away allocations of 2/3k have been hard to come by. So a cheap and huge allocation after a month break for a club in its most high profile position for a long time was always going to sell well. Of course they will now be giving it the big ‘un , but in reality they are just another club with very lucky geography.
  3. It is on their website, fourth news story down. (They’ve sold over 6,500, by the way).
  4. Great to have you on board. 🙄
  5. December 2019, Sky moved the Wigan game to an evening KO on the 23rd December. We made it a tenner and nearly 18,000 home fans turned up, our most for any Championship game since relegation. It’s all about picking the right time and event (with no daft strings attached like ‘season ticket holders bring a friend’ etc) for ticket offers. In that instance, non local residents back with the family for Christmas or big groups fancying taking in a festive game Do that and it will bring plenty in.
  6. Apart from Coyle, has there actually been a ‘*insert manager here* out!’ chant at a Rovers game since Ke*n? An impatient, fickle fanbase, we ain’t.
  7. Social media has led to such ridiculous overreactions - and if certainly isn’t just a Rovers phenomenon, I’m sad enough to scout around other forums and I bet pretty much every manager in this league has had a ‘sack him’ thread/posts this season already…
  8. Mourinho had gone to newly Abramovich minted Chelsea a couple of months before Robson was sacked, so the timings weren’t right.
  9. Probably did. Bit like pricing Wigan as Cat A thinking it’s some big derby he can exploit. 5 years here and he’s still as clueless as the day he started.
  10. Of course, and we showed just that at Norwich in contrast to that nonsense against PNE…
  11. Bloody hell Longers, not sure why this needs explaining to you, but here goes. It’s all very well for a parachute club with a load of quality footballers for this level to play that way. But for a club with Wigan’s players who are trying to avoid relegation?
  12. Another manager coming into the Championship and forgetting that he’s no longer coaching top level footballers…
  13. We never sell tickets in any number for standard cup ties (and they are pretty much always priced at £10-£12), especially not midweek just before Christmas. Indeed I’ve seen many a similar crowds for later rounds then this (c7.5k home fans for an FA Cup Quarter Final springs to mind). No idea why this has become some hand wringing issue across social media. It’s a Carabao Cup 4th round against Forest, not a semi-final against Liverpool. So this means bugger all either way re the real issue - the need for cheaper STs.
  14. Always a catch with every initiative they try and then it’s head scratching time when it fails.
  15. There is a difference between being upset, which we all had a right to be after two such horrendous performances and actually contemplating sacking a bloke, that in his first season has a non-parachute club with a middling budget 3rd in the table at Christmas. (Obviously virtually nobody is contemplating it away from social media).
  16. It is what it is. If we stay towards the top we will be on a hell of a lot by May. ‘Those who pay the piper’ and all that. It’s the disregard for fans re timings that annoys me. Rovers v Cardiff on NYD at noon, ridiculous for any travelling fan and there could easily have been a different slot found over the festive period, but that wouldn’t even have been a consideration by the broadcaster for a second. Though some of the blame has to be on the EFL for even scheduling such fixtures on a festive bank holiday. It should be local/local-ish fixtures only like it used to be. So Lancs/Yorks fixtures for clubs around here and then if chosen for TV it wouldn’t be too much of an inconvenience.
  17. These ‘logistical problems’ that only impact deliveries to BB2…
  18. ‘99 keeps on trying! 😁
  19. Not a chance anything more than a tiny percentage of the support want him gone. Need to remember that online forums in the aftermaths of bad defeats are extremely reactionary and in no way represent actual fanbases.
  20. Good lad! An afternoon with King Ally!
  21. You are missing the point again. Of course everybody knows why games get moved, but that doesn’t mean that match going fans, especially the travelling support are not massively inconvenienced by it.
  22. Very bitter lad you, roverandout 😁
  23. But they will have won the thing. People say that about England when they play a lot of average sides and still get knocked out…
