  1. Look at Botham and Flintoff, cracking all rounders but couldn’t hack the captaincy. It’s not ideal for an all rounder to be Test captain, especially one that plays all three formats, but the cupboard’s bare, I mean, apart from him and Root, who will even be automatic picks for the side in a year's time, never mind captaincy material? Tough gig, so good luck, Ben!
  2. ‘Right and correct choice’… who else was there?
  3. That’s one word for them…
  4. I stopped paying attention to FB and the LT comments a long time ago. A new manager comes in and wins his first game and it will all be ‘Oh it was definitely time for a change’.
  5. Easy this football lark, ain’t it!
  6. Around that, and 7.5 to 8k In the ends, around 4.5 to 5 in the Riverside.
  7. 10k+ capacity in the JW, 4.5/5k in the Riverside, certainly not 6k.
  8. ‘unfortunately with the current economic climate causing increased costs out of our control, it has presented us with an impossible task of delivering a high-quality event in 2022.’ I.e no bugger was coming.
  9. Indeed, made me laugh last season on that horror run, ‘surely he must be sacked?’ Why would he have been? He had a contract, so crack on Tone.
  10. Perhaps people are annoyed because they know that the owners will have been well aware for a good while now that the present incumbent is going, yet we are once again heading into the close season as a rudderless ship…
  11. Think you are confusing a few dozen folk on brfcs with the fanbase…
  12. And he only spent £80 million in January too…
  13. End of the day, love him or loath him, it’s a piss poor way to treat employees, but this is the standard lack of respect you expect from that lot, yet they certainly expect to receive plenty of it back from us mere mortals. Usual thing though isn’t it - money doesn’t buy class. And of course, we look to be going into a new season as rudderless as we were when it became clear Lambert was going, they had ample time for succession planning, yet we were scrambling round for a manager well into summer, until that doughnuts and head tennis fella that luckily enough lived on Brockhall Village took it. 12 years on and they’ve learnt f*ck all…
  14. But, but, that ‘letter to the fans!’
  15. … they won’t be doing any of those things.
  16. It would, but of course we had double the season ticket holders back then, our ST base having been absolutely destroyed under this regime, so a 20k crowd (with 2k away) for this modern shell of a club is a good effort, considering you need to flog big numbers (10k+) of walk on tickets…
  17. No chance! It will be a big gate by modern standards, certainly, but yon mon is getting a bit carried away there - which is understandable, as a 20k+ crowd without a big away following hasn’t happened since Oxford, so imagine it’s all hands to the pump down there. However, it’s Thursday afternoon and the JWU still has a fair few left on the DEnd side, the Riverside is half empty, the BBUpper hasn’t been opened yet and there’s about 4500 empty seats in the DEnd Lower.
  18. No excuses here, just sums up the incompetence of the authorities who can easily avoid creating such controversies when making appointments…
  19. He obviously is a Luton fan, a quick google search shows that to be the case with story after story about it, plus that is the only league club he has never reffed. So that alone says he should not be officiating games involving teams with a chance of a play off place this or next weekend.
  20. Think you missed OEB’s gag there, Ossy!
  21. Well according to his LinkedIn he’s from North Hayling (near Portsmouth), and he is a declared Luton fan. So I’m not bothered about any Bournemouth connections as he obviously doesn’t support them, but I’m puzzled to why a Luton fan should be allowed to ref a direct rivals game with two to go…
  22. Well he’s been a ref for years and has reffed every other club on numerous occasions, but he’s never reffed a Luton game and he says he’s a fan of theirs, so that seems pretty clear to me (though surely a Luton fan shouldn’t be reffing a play off rivals game either?!) https://www.worldfootball.net/referee_summary/keith-stroud/4/1/
  23. He’s a Luton fan according to Wiki. Which seems about right to me as they are the only club he hasn’t reffed looking at that website above…
  24. I sort of understand why they’ve opened it this time as the Blackburn End and Jack Walker lowers are pretty much sold out, so it’s another option. But surely it would have made more sense to try and pack out the standard home areas first before opening up new stands (like they did for Oxford)? But what do I know…
  25. Using average ages is a bit disingenuous for me. We have very few old heads, but hardly any lads under 21 either, the vast majority of the side between 23 and 29, not kids. Another side could have a load of 19/20/21 year olds, but a handful of old pros and come out at pretty much the same average. This lot have little experience of promotion campaigns, granted, but they still have plenty of Championship games under their belts…
