  1. It was a good achievement, no question as you can very easily get stuck down there, however we also got lucky, us and Wigan aside it was a very weak league, I mean, Shrewsbury were our biggest rivals! Now you’ve got Sunderland, Wigan, Bolton, Sheff Wed, Ipswich, Portsmouth, L1 masters Rotherham all around the top 6.
  2. I’d rather have him around the first team than anywhere near an executive position. *Cough* real estate *Cough*
  3. There was a load of them travelling pretty big distances every day at one point; Graham, Downing, Chapman, I assume Pears, Johnson from Derby. It’s up to them, but can’t be good for you if you want to operate at optimum levels…
  4. Four weeks?! So six weeks before the season starts, plus ça change!
  5. Nah, that’s going to be Venus’ role, the shit that won’t flush, from Sharpe in the LT… ‘Venus has worked alongside Mowbray throughout his career, but has stayed on after Mowbray’s departure, including at his previous club, Coventry City. He has worked closely with current head of recruitment Park, and previous incumbent Stuart Harvey, and while his time as assistant manager may come to an end, there is the prospect of him staying on in a different capacity. It is understood that Venus’ contractual situation is separate to that of Mowbray, who said he couldn’t speak for his assistant when asked of his future.’
  6. Footballers ay! So entitled, everything on a plate. All you need to do is keep fit and half of them can’t be arsed with that…
  7. Lampard was an odd and risky appointment, but the Leeds one was even worse, ridiculous decision to make in a relegation fight…
  8. A ‘dream transfer fee’ which won’t be anywhere to be seen for the team, but it will kick the FFP can down the road for a bit. As I suppose, finding something decent to sell every year so we can scramble away from sanctions, players, training ground, is the ‘dream’ these days…
  9. They were absolutely dreadful last night, wide open and constantly caught on the break, bad discipline, load of injuries, a manager that looks totally out of his depth… that lot down the M65 will be rubbing their hands
  10. Links to the club through him and his son, lives locally, string of failures, cheap… certainly shades of Coyle’s appointment
  11. ‘But FFP, the owners are literally being stopped from investing, they would if they could, it’s the EFL that are holding us back’ ’You do know that infrastructure and maintenance spend are exempt from FFP, so why is Ewood falling to bits?’ ’🤯‘
  12. For a lad that’s only been here since he was 12, he had a pretty strong Cumberland accent a couple of years back, then I heard some fella on the radio news the other day talking about the new captain, I was wondering who it was… it was Stokes! Gone for a bit of a wander that accent 😁
  13. Illuminating table in The Times, between arch rivals, who has had a higher league finish the most times…
  14. So normally these statements will mention other coaching departures, if not all staff, certainly the right hand man usually follows out of the door… yet nothing on the assistant manager/head of football/real estate developer?
  15. Lovely heartfelt message by the owners there, did it arrive by carrier pigeon on the Chicken and Egg letter headed paper?
  16. Course he will. Or a big budget Championship job, he ain’t coming to a club like modern BRFC…
  17. If you say so, Darren!
  18. Of course Dyche will wait it out. He’s got a sky high reputation (and that is finite) and has just received an enormous pay off… he’d be insane to come here.
  19. I just don’t believe you on the ‘always comply’ bit, especially at local away games. A group of lads who have had ten pints and a bag of coke each aren’t going to sit down in an away end full of stood up folk just because of your magical cajoling techniques… perhaps you pick your battles 😏
  20. Unlike Williams, Swag has no strategic t interest to build the support, he’s not employed to do so, just to hit whatever short term revenue targets he’s been given. Of course, we see the community work being done, but this is unlikely to lay any eggs (to coin a phrase) in the short to medium term. The results being a dwindling number of core supporters are asked to pay more and more. There is so much you could do with Ewood, with supporters groups, Branch associations, singing areas, safe standing, flags and banners, bars, fan zones (and that is just off the top of my head). Alas, there is no ambition within the club to do any of it, because, well, why bother, I’m hitting my targets, and Ewood is a doddle to manage on a match day…
  21. Yet, we will probably see another summer of terrible season ticket sales. There is a potential crowd revival brewing just under the surface, alas Waggott’s pricing and dysfunctional decision making from the top is determined to nip it in the bud…
