  1. The club can go for it, why not. But multi match bundles offered mid season don’t work here, never have. Which makes sense, as if you wanted to tie yourself down as a floating fan to multi games including night matches, you’d have bought a full or half ST by now. Many of said fans ‘pick their games’, I.e a Saturday afternoon they fancy. So, for me, I’d be doing what we did in 2001, target a couple of matches and price it as a £10 a ticket in all areas, Operation Fill Ewood.
  2. Pretty much the case from reading their forum… big missed opportunity.
  3. They had a big demand when in the PL, large waiting lists for tickets. However, they never capitalised on it by extending their ground and building up the fanbase when the interest was there.
  4. Especially in the Jack Walker Lower with two sets of club doctors and physios literally yards away! Great news, Davey!
  5. Considering this was Sky’s promo for the game, then no surprise…
  6. Then why mention the valuation at all? It should be irrelevant when it comes to selling to a promotion rival. Do I think he will go? No, shades of Jack bidding for Cantona, but telling that the noise out of the club is talking about them ‘not meeting valuations’, not that they can ‘feck off trying to unsettle our player, he’ ain’t going to you lot at any price’ etc
  7. Hmm maybe because I actually read them? It explicitly says ‘they were rejected as they haven’t met the valuation’, not that they were rejected as he’s not for sale to a promotion rival.
  8. Let’s hope so, but the unexpected/absolutely crazy transfers often occur in the last week of January…
  9. ‘However, the Cherries haven’t reached anywhere near the valuation that Rovers have for the 27-year-old who has been a key performer this season. Reports this morning have surfaced that Bournemouth have submitted a bid in excess of £2m for the midfielder but Rovers are holding firm.’ That reads to me that he could well go to our direct promotion rival in our biggest season for a decade, if the price is right, not ‘piss off, we aren’t selling to you lot of all clubs’…
  10. And some more will dip back in for a weekend game when/if we are closing in on promotion, that’s what floating fans do. We are seeing double the standard amount of walk ons every week now, we’ve sold record half STs, we’ll undoubtedly see some big crowds in the run in. And of course, STs, STs, STs in the summer need to be pushed and pushed (whatever division we end up in). All that is all good news after a decade in the doldrums, so there’s no point pining for those that walked away between 2010 and 2012 (and believe me, I have pined for them), ordering them to ‘come back’, to ‘get behind the club’, as many of those former ST holders have long, long moved on…
  11. If they haven’t been here for a decade plus, perhaps they have moved on and won’t be missing it…
  12. We are doing fine. Loads more are now buying tickets every week, and more and more will do so. However, the crowds are still lower than we expect because we have so few ST holders in comparison to previous years… and there’s nowt we can do about that until the summer.
  13. 3,000 more than other night games this season, happy enough with that for a Sky fixture. It’s the weekend fixtures that will see the big crowds.
  14. I’ve never known a player that’s done so little here have such revered status. He looked an exciting prospect in the third division, but a combination of injuries and attitude has seen him fall away, that’s football, and if he had anything to offer a team hoping for PL promotion, now aged 24, he would certainly have ripped it up at lowly Burton Albion. It’s a shame, but both sides need to move on.
  15. What and actually use the big screen and TV concourses for something other than adverts and a team listing?
  16. England probably have their best crop of full backs in decades, top PL and European performers, plenty of them young too. Harry Pickering is currently a decent pro at Championship level. I know we’ve had a good season, but bloody hell, some of you getting a tad carried away 😅
  17. Because, spending a little this January, in contrast to many years of Derby style wild overspending on eye watering fees and wages, would lead to administration? Riots? Ha, those days have long gone at Ewood.
  18. Would they buggery get ‘pelters’ for strengthening the squad when sitting third in January.
  19. But not for a fee of a young goal scoring forward, and it is obviously these BIG fees that are keeping us out of FFP…
  20. Not a chance, but we’ll never know, as our half baked Brentford model forgets the most important part of it… have your sellable asset contracted!
  21. I’m not ‘killing myself over it’ as I know they won’t, I was being facetious largely. We will obviously continue with the half baked ‘Brentford model’ until the owners change tact to something else down the line. And yes, they are rare beasts, a contracted JR, and especially a run of the mill full back like Pickering would not be going for anywhere near a contracted BB.
  22. So we won’t be on the verge of FFP every cycle then? Believe that when I see it…
  23. Again, aware of all that, J*B. However, AA and BB are rare beasts, young forwards scoring lots of goals - ergo big premium on their price. Many other ‘rough diamonds’ are unpolishable and most non-forwards at this level don’t sell for anywhere near top scoring forwards. It’s a model that could very well see us in the bottom 6 as the top… and I’ve accepted that’s how it is here these days, but *surely* considering an enormous and unexpected opportunity has presented itself *right now*, it has to be gone for (and that doesn’t mean chucking millions at it)? As we may not see it again…
  24. Well obviously BB is going this summer. My point being that we won’t have another BB or fixed asset to sell every cycle, then what?
  25. And that will be enough, will it? Considering we had to sell a high value player and our training ground to just ‘scrape through’ last time?
