  1. With Gallagher, Armstrong, DG, even Samuel we have options so for me it was a no brainer that he should’ve been loaned out. 90 minutes of competitive football, once, twice a week is what he desperately needs. Playing glorified practice matches at training grounds is not going to develop him one iota. Two years of his career will soon have disappeared and unless there were no takers I can’t fathom why he’s still here.
  2. Hmmm. For all his faults, presiding over an unhappy camp is certainly not the impression I’ve ever had with this manager.
  3. My post was more a reply to Jim’s assertion that they have a ‘better manager’, he hasn’t done much either way from what I can see.
  4. Has Scott Parker pulled up many trees considering he’s probably got the biggest budget in the league?
  5. Controversial that Kamy... the older vintage on here may raise you a (Sir) Roger Jones
  6. Story on the BBC Football page... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-51356850
  7. No I don’t mean chants and the like EiT, as you are right Ewood is very patient on that score. I’m talking general chats with folk at games, around the area etc.
  8. Careful now... The Screen Grabber is quick on the draw today
  9. This made me laugh... Bowyer Ball
  10. Sorry? I’ve been proud to be a Rovers (and football) fan today. I can only imagine the pride his family has felt. The Lenny Johnrose work for MND and the Gary Parkinson foundation are other examples of the game coming together. There’s a world of difference between the famous (and OTT) quote of Shankly which obviously isn’t the case and the view that football is still a community.
  11. But I think today has shown how it very much IS ‘more than a game’. You are part of a community when you support a football club, especially when you see a legend, who lives locally too, suffering and how much goodwill and willingness to help there is.
  12. Parson’s post illustrates what we were saying the other day about ‘leagues’ at this level. We are in a ‘higher league’ than Man Utd ergo we should be bringing superior or at least equivalent talent through. Doesn’t work like that as results can be skewed by days like today when we have half a first team playing and it is quasi-reserve football and not ‘youth’ at all.
  13. Wright-Phillips is Shaun’s son (Ian’s grandson!). Now that made me feel old!
  14. The club needs to step up. Some of the recent ‘tributes‘ to players and managers that have passed away has been shoddy to say the least. This is a living legend and he needs to be cherished.
  15. I always picture him on the bench with Kenny and Ray in that ASICS jumper, him thinking ‘there you go, I’ve set a platform for you boys now’
  16. Now that’s a chaddy post we can all get on board with! A possible idea would be to use the upcoming 2nd Hall of Fame night as a fundraiser.
  17. This site is less frenetic now because you can vent anywhere - Facebook, Twitter, LT comments and on it goes. In 2003 it was brfcs or write a letter to the LT (and you’d calmed down by the time you were putting a stamp on it!). So it was a real tinderbox on here.
  18. Oh aye. This place was horrendous around 2003/2004. The site had to be locked down at 5pm after defeats. First world problems, ay!
  19. Every manager, apart from maybe Hughes (though even he got a load of stick in his first and last seasons, from memory), has had it from both barrels on here, always been the case, probably always will. I mean promotion getting, cup winning, Euro qualifying Souness got it in the neck more than TM ever has!
  20. Birdy’s Ewood Blues for one, Andrew Neill, he ain’t!
  21. That’s what the other fan groups are there for!
  22. Who says he has to go to a long ball team? Many promising technical footballers have gone on loan from day dot, all part of learning your trade, why would Buckley be any different?
  23. Around Barnsley at home, maybe, but since then I don’t get that impression at all, in fact I can’t remember a manager as staunchly backed in ‘real life’ as this mon. Possibly Hughes c2007 (remember that?We were top 6 in the PL and gallivanting around Europe and cup semi after cup semi).
  24. 19. Spent a couple of years on loan in Germany first as he couldn’t get a work permit.
  25. So if someone doesn’t agree with you that JRC was ‘excellent’, that means they are not ‘giving him a chance’? and ‘you despair’?
