We rejected £15million from West Brom in August and his profile and goal tally has only increased since then. He’s scored as many goals as this time last season - but at a higher level, so hasn’t ‘dropped off’ at all. So of course £18million+ is reasonable in this daft market.

In theory he is now behind Graham, Nuttall and Armstrong in the striker pecking order. Plus, would he even get on he pitch before a fit Samuel? Not a good look for a 7million purchase and I would imagine there are some serious concerns behind the scenes. If creating this ‘no one likes us’ routine helps you as fans create a siege mentality, good luck to you. But honestly, most fans couldn’t care less about you, just like they couldn’t care less about all the other ‘also ran’ clubs with fine histories and traditions you keep belittling. You’re not special, just another club, but luckily a club situated in a big city with a big catchment area.
