There’s plenty of talk about how competitive and unpredictable the Championship is, but looking at the table, is that not the top 10 (not necessarily in order) you’d expect to see, probably Birmingham aside, if you look at budgets, attendances and wage bills? Indeed, apart from Sheff Wed, it’s a top 10 that mirrors the top 10 average attendances Also, shows that we are doing pretty well to be just outside them.

Venky’s ruined something I was immensely proud of and I will never forgive them for it, so I’m not interested in hearing from them, apologies and all the rest of it. But when I read posts saying ‘I’d be happy for us to be in the Conference if we were rid of them’, I just can’t fathom it. With our infrastructure, that would probably be it for Blackburn Rovers in any recognisable form and with our demographics, we probably wouldn’t ever recover. Why cut your nose off to spite your face? As long as the club remains stable, Brockhall is kept in tact, the Academy is funded and players are bought, contracts renewed and so on, the status quo can remain for me, for now. Long term, surely we want the club sold as a going concern at the kind of level we are at now, rather then some bizarre self-sabotage of hurtling to non league? I hate what they’ve done, but they wouldn’t care less and if would be the club and us that would suffer.

I’ll give a prediction, the Charity Shield will be moved abroad over the next few years...

Just eight out of the 32 ties are at 3pm...

It’s started this season by the looks of it... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37752728

Remember that, but for a domestic game?

Changed KO for purely overseas viewers, is this new? I can’t say I’ve ever heard of that?

Had a good chat with him at the Cheltenham Festival a few years ago, couldn’t speak highly enough of Rovers.

The enigmatic Jason Lowe vortex

Thought I’d woken up in 2016... https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17278792.bolton-will-stick-together-at-norwich-says-jason-lowe/ -
Not something that led to Kenny leaving was my point, as it was 1992 (unless he was still bitter about it three years later?!).
-
I thought we almost signed Thomas in the early PL days, long before Kenny went?
-
You reckon? Been a good while since I’ve felt any at Ewood.

The enigmatic Jason Lowe vortex

I’m sure I remember their fans saying what a great signing he was when they went on that not to be sustained run in August. -
The last two crises have been averted by selling Gary Madine and former owner Eddie Davies sorting out the last cash flow issue just before he died. Not sure how much longer they can keep pulling these rabbits out the hat...

He’s replying to this: https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17276824.comment-why-ken-anderson-owes-wanderers-fans-an-explanation/ Anderson’s note is a serious stream of consciousness rant! The fact that he states that they struggle for cash flow in just the two weeks of an international break tells me they are in a bad way...

I assume JH is referring to Waggott’s comment that any following over 2k will have the bottom tier. Though if they have been given the upper to start with, I presume the additional will be up there too...

I would say this forum is probably not the norm when it comes to views on the owners, well not when compared to match going fans. I would say pretty much every conversation I’ve had about the owners over the past 12 months has had the other person say something like: ’They were badly advised, but they’ve learnt their lesson’ ’They’ve put more money in than Jack’ ’The missing fans should come back and support the club like Venky’s are doing’ ’Who’s going to buy the club?’ I would say the LT comments section seems more true to what I hear at Ewood them on here, unfortunately.

He’ll be on a nice PL wage whilst playing regularly in the Championship, I doubt he regrets anything...

His son?

Hope you’re right! However, they won’t go anytime soon.

For every player bought with ‘potential’ that makes it, another one doesn’t. It’s a risk and for a club with our income, it’s a big one at that. Yet, we don’t now how much of this ‘7 million’ will ever get paid or at what stage. Is it say, 4 million up front (well in instalments) with another million if we get to the PL, another if he plays for England etc. If that’s the case, then we won’t end up out of pocket in the long run, you would wager. If it is a straight 7 million purely for the lad as he is now, then that is a big risk for us ever getting it back.

Picking up on Bluebruce’s point, since getting rid of reserve teams, how many matches do non Academy fringe players play? As they usually don’t play in the under 23s. I.e Downing, Leutweiler, even Brereton and Rothwell who only seem to get 15 minutes every (sometimes every other) week, is that optimum for keeping players sharp?

One good thing is that they tend to put away fans in the bottom tier for early cup games, so no oxygen tanks required at the top!

They ruined something I was immensely proud of, but we are where we are and who’s going to put in the millions of capital every year then? I’m more than happy for them to be silent parters, they can stay a milllion miles from Ewood, but they are currently the only show in town.
