  1. A TD also oversees transfers and the academy, as well as that, according to Dan Ashworth… obviously here this will be split between a half dozen folk - divide and conquer and all that for the Swag/Pasha axis.
  2. If only this club found it as easy to bring in a plethora of, you know, footballers.
  3. Cheers for the link, but I’m certainly non the wiser after reading it as to how a TD is any different than a DoF - from Ashworth’s own examples both TDs and DoFs look at academy set up, both oversee transfers, both only suggest (but don’t force) players on managers.
  4. Hmmm, if you say so FB, but I’m sure I’ve seen SD and DoF used interchangeably.
  5. He’ll be getting a decent wedge in a nice environment. Getting folk to take jobs is never going to be an issue - if they are any good (or if they even get chance to show their skills) is another issue.
  6. Aren’t Director of Football, Sporting Director and Technical Director all the same thing?
  7. I’m hoping they see sense and at the phase 1 ‘deadline’ they come out with something like; ‘Due to the fantastic response to our ticket offer we have decided to ensure as many fans as possible can take advantage of our 30th anniversary Phase 1 pricing, so have extended the offer (yada yada)’ Indeed, I hope that’s aways been the plan and phase 1 is just a marketing ruse to get folk buying quick. As otherwise it’s a very short phase 1 (because they were two months later on sale than last year), and only one payday before they ridiculously bump them up 80 quid - and *surely* they aren’t actually expecting anybody to be paying that in just three weeks time.
  8. End of the day 24 quid off an adult season ticket isn’t going to move the dial - remember the majority of fans don’t take kids with them, so little has changed. But the club isn’t interested in taking a gamble to potentially move said dial, so it is what it is and I’ll take the offer they’ve made on kids tickets, as at least it’s something, and something for the future generations too.
  9. 😅 As people have said he gives us good as he gets! So we get some fellas in as DoF and you are happy. Fair enough, like I said if you think the football side of this club is doing well then we obviously have different standards. Though you obviously don’t really believe that and you actually agree the football side isn’t good either - as recruitment ‘needs to be much better’ and we are ‘7/8 players away’ from a good second division squad… yeah, that’s quite a lot!
  10. Read seems out of his depth to me. Whereas I think Swag now does understand it, but has no interest in harnessing it.
  11. I agree that WATR have done a good lobbying job, probably the best offer they could’ve got out of them, as they just aren’t going to follow Bolton/PNE. But, like the Watford game why does it take fans (in other words volunteers giving up their free time) to make them wake up down there. Aren’t they paid professionals supposedly in marketing and commercial jobs?
  12. End of the day if we didn’t have a Cat 1 would we be buying players to keep us in the Championship instead… think we all know the answer to that.
  13. So it’s all about the manager now? Thought that’s not what modern football is? End of the day if you think we are selling a few more advertising boards and a better sponsor away from being a well run club, then we obviously have different standards.
  14. 10 minute city 🚨
  15. So like I said your issues are with the commercial side - no arguments from me there. But the football side you seem happy enough.
  16. Obviously that Fidler or whatever he’s called has fecked off as wasn’t his view inexplicably not to try and get young fans in the ground as ‘kids don’t want to watch football, they’d rather wear a VR headset’ or some other bollocks.
  17. I suppose if they are struggling for sales ‘Phase 1’ suddenly becomes more elastic. We’ve seen it many times before.
  18. Doesn’t sound like something Venky’s would have an issue with.
  19. People have taken the piss out of his English in the past, don’t like that at all, because fair play to him for posting regularly if dyslexic etc. I also think he should never get stick for, you know, watching Rovers, I go every week and nobody rounds on me for it. However, I completely disagree with a lot of his opinions… and will continue to do so, just like he can with mine.
  20. Amazingly the Chadster still thinks this is a well run club aside from ‘Waggott needs to get better on the commercial side’. (Well, maybe not that amazing).
  21. Yeah I’m sure JDT thought Batty was ready for the first team, more like ‘there’s no cash left for a left back, so you can have young Jake’.
  22. We’ve no idea if it’s a positive sign considering they were put on sale almost two months later than last year, so of course a few thousand will buy pretty much straight away as the sale window has been concertinaed. It might be, might not be, we’ll only know post claim your seat deadline and phase 1.
  23. Pick isn’t worth getting into a debate with… remember he wanted someone to break Sammie’s legs, never did work out why, was it for having the temerity to keep Saint Dacky out the side who’s hardly played a game anywhere since.
  24. And they try to justify it with the response of a six year old, ‘err, well, everybody else does it’… which, of course, is a lie anyway.
  25. Of course there are folk like you who would return under new ownership. But the fact you care enough to post such a heartfelt post on an obscure Rovers message board marks you out as still being invested with the club. Unfortunately many, many others just drifted away 12/13 years ago and don’t really give the club much thought either way these days.
