January Transfer window 2022

I've just spent the past 5 minutes reading the posts on this page and I haven't get a scooby doo what you lot are on about. Maybe I'm getting old, thats the trouble....... I'll get my coat..... -
Not true. Joe Root is seen by many people in the game as Englands greatest batsman. James Anderson is also seen by many in the game as Englands greatest bowler. Add Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad to that list and actually you’re seeing some of the best players this country has ever produced in the current team.

David De Gae FA Cup Semi Final last season I think it was against Chelsea and he’s one of the best keepers in the world. -

The lad was excellent against Preston at home and Bournemouth away, where we took 6 points, did you have the same opinion then Asia? -
We have won a series 4 times in Australia in the past 50yrs, we've not sunk at all, we have always been cr@p. Well battled today, finally showing a bit of fight, sadly it counts for nothing in the grand scheme of things other than to highlight the fact many of the current team simply aren't good enough.

Spot on. I think he deserves a new deal based on the fact he's been here since he was 13 and he's a decent Championship full back, but he is replaceable you're quite right. My only concern is how losing Nyambe and possibly Lenihan will impact on what finally seems to be a mostly water tight defence. Throughout Mowbrays time here we've struggled in defence, I think he's been unlucky with injuries at times, but he seems to have finally found the combination and I'd hate to see it broken up. Just a word on the owners, it seems they've told Mowbray that Brereton won't be leaving unless a ridiculous offer comes in, credit to them for that even though its a no brainer. -

It’s the modern way 47er, we’ve not taken the cup seriously for years, like most other clubs up and down the country, but today we played a side that should have won. -

We have a threadbare squad Tyrone, he wanted to progress and respect the fans and competition, it’s not that hard to understand really. -

Come on 47er that isn't right, he played a strong team, stronger than most would have played, but we lost and we move on. -

Of course I would, he's been excellent when called upon, bad day at the office today, like the team had against Fulham, look at us now. Posters have been looking for a reason to be proven right, Pears has just given them that platform for a week or so. Mowbray will be next on the hit list, you watch. -

You never saw Matt Dickens and John Butcher then..... Pears was excellent in the league which is where our focus should be. -

Well the manager isn't taking the fans for granted and is clearly taking the cup seriously. Very strong side out today. -

We have a history as a fanbase of hammering homegrown talent, its been going on for decades, I just don't get it either. Nyambe isn't a local lad, but he's been with us since he was 13 and he should be rewarded with the contract his loyalty deserves. -

Wigan unbeaten in 13 games, no idea what team we'll put out. I hope we win of course for the fantastic support once again making its way to Wigan. Wigan 1 Rovers 2 -

You can add a whole host of Mowbray signings to that list too USA, the manager can spot a player, no doubt about that. -
Just watched the BT Sport highlights and was pleasantly surprised after avoiding the score all day today. Ben Stokes brave brave lad, playing with an obvious side injury and took several blows, Butler useless yet again, he needs dropping, Wood played a great knock giving it to the Aussies and Bairstow rode his luck at times but brilliant, just brilliant. I doubt it will make much difference in the end, but credit where credits due, a bit of fight at last.

What a player that Simon Garner was, remember the game like it was yesterday. Sadly events at Hillsborough would overshadow the day. RIP the 96.

They're billionaire owners, of course they can? Promotion isn't the be all and end all here, these are club assets and you don't let your best assets leave the club. These players have proven this season they've got what it takes to move this club forward, they should be kept at all costs, its as simple as that. -

Football runs on contracts Islander, you can't get away from that, some work out, some don't. The first thing Venkys did upon arrival at the club was separate out all the players with contract incentives, bonuses, new deal clauses and forced them out of the club. You actually need look no further for proof on how Venkys view contracts that right there. Just because Mowbray wanted to reward the players who got the club promoted from league 1 with new deals, doesn't in any way explain why Berg wasn't paid up, or why he wasn't able to bring any backroom staff in, or why Bowyer was in the press weekly asking for new player contracts, or why Lambert left. I'm sure one thing we both agree on: Our billionaire owners could pick up the phone right now and give the promotion push a massive boost by paying these players what they think they're worth. -

The club can't operate without staff, but when push comes to shove they're loathed to pay decent contracts and we're not talking the peanuts the likes of Bennett was on either. Henning Berg was under contract to Blackburn Rovers, it ended up in the high court because Venkys refused to pay that contract, those are the facts whichever way you slice it, Salgado, Nelson, Emerton, Roberts and many more, Venkys refused to pay the contracts and forced them out of the club, one of the reasons Lambert left was because Venkys refused to discuss contracts for his backroom team never mind players. But lets keep this current, why are half our first team players potentially on the brink of walking away for nothing? Mowbray is on record as he wants them to sign, Waggott is on record as he wants them to stay?
