  1. Oxford had a good side back then ojf, think they went up eventually.
  2. Some very poor footage of the FA Cup 4th Round tie at Oxford 1985 - We drew United in the next round above.
  3. If memory serves me right, YTS (Youth training schemes) paid about £27 a week at the time, apprenticeships a bit more. People say football was more affordable back then, I'm not convinced, especially for the younger supports, many who didn't have jobs. Still 23,000 on that night, I can still see Branagan standing on the ball and Strachan curling it into the top corner......Gutted!
  4. Some other bits I’ve come across, spanning the decades: Who is this? I’ve just worked it out:
  5. Hell of a finish, dusty Miller with the cross and a floundering Bob Boulder nowhere near it. Great day indeed.
  6. Just on the same theme as DeeCee This was without doubt the best day I have ever had supporting Rovers and my first visit to Wembley. We had nothing, we expected nothing. 28k Rovers fans travelled to see us as beat 1st Division Charlton and lift The Full Members Cup - getting goose bumps now. Some pictures from the day here, some members of this site looking a lot younger too: https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14240451.pictures-30-retro-blackburn-rovers-fan-photos-will-fill-pride/
  7. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/19709994.chile-fans-trip-blackburn-rovers-inspired-netflix-show/ Didn't know where to post this, great story and well done to the club for making the effort.
  8. Quite right, I was rushing......apologies.
  9. This may seem rather left field, especially with the budgets having been cut to the bone down at Ewood, but you do wonder how long it will be before a club offers free admission to season ticket holders for the entire season, or maybe the entire season for £10 a game to help that promotion push. In the 12 months to June 2020 we lost £21m, up from £17m the season before, so much for getting wages under control........How much is season ticket income? 8000 x £40 = £320k (Nothing really in the grand scheme of things) I understand the question around devaluing the product, if you've paid nothing to watch the team, you'll be loathed to pay anything in future, but many areas of business are going down the giveaway route, software in particular, will football ever follow suit? I doubt it.....
  10. Good to see Rovers shirts on the longside tonight watching England, pity the locals can’t be arsed turning out, embarrassing.
  11. When did they make single Opel fruits (Starbursts) so small and difficult from a middle aged bloke, with fat fingers, to get into? Why do sarsaparilla tablets not taste the same as they used to, or pear drops for that matter. Don't get me started of the size of a Curley Wurley or Mars Bar. Anyone know where the nearest Slimmers World is?
  12. He's been brilliant for years for England, that over could happen to anyone in T20, Livingston should have taken the catch. I guess NZ owed us one.....class acts not taking a run when blocking Rashid getting to the ball.
  13. If you wanted to get sections of the fanbase back onside you'd go all out to embrace the past, go overboard and that doesn't only extend to putting a bedraggled Colin Hendry in the away shirt. You're breaking no FFP rules by bringing legends back to the club, its a blank canvas for me, but nobody at the club has the vison, nobody at the club seems to care, its just a job. We have billionaire brothers that have offices within a few miles of the ground, the sponsorship potential is off the scale, does anyone at the club even know they exist? I'm digressing but you get the picture, its not all about mid table championship mediocrity, so much more could be and should be being done.
  14. Martin Moxon, director of cricket at Yorkshire, is absent from work due to a stress related illness, we all wish him well I’m sure. Andrew Gale, Yorkshire first team coach, suspended pending investigation into historic tweet. What a shambles.
  15. The Mrs tells me it’s brilliant, pity she was 2 seasons in before telling me 🙄
  16. You are aware that this path is well trodden, investigations have been carried out, documents presented to governing bodies by posters from this very site, stonewalled, no other word for it. From the points highlighted above, you clearly have faith in the owners, despite everything that has gone before, despite the financial taps obviously having been tuned off, despite losing £140m, despite knocking 10,000 off the gate and I could go on. Those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it.
  17. All very admirable, I would question where you've been for the last 11yrs 1864, but I wish you all the best, you're going to need it. Ps - The training ground has been sold once, can't be sold again unless to developers, if you find out whats next, give us the heads up please. Cheers.
  18. The owners couldn't care less, thats why they keep repeating the same old mistakes. Where is the incentive to get the wage bill down? They've had 11yrs to get that under control? But it doesn't fit with the operating model of turning over players so the pigs for the agencies to get the snouts in the trough. Some think it was a good thing we dismantled the Allardyce side and threw the likes of captain Ryan Nelson on the scrap heap and the brilliant Michel Salgodo, it was about time we got the wage bill under control right? But hang on a minute, aren't we still losing millions season after season due to wages being out of the control? Eureka moment? probably not.....Its all Mowbrays fault......
  19. You've just given us the answer 1864.. Having read your posts over the past few months, like many down at Ewood these days, you wouldn't have been able to contain yourself with that news bursting to get out, yet not a peep, which tells its own story. I'm not having a go at you, I really do hope you or someone else can make a difference, but this road is well trodden, billionaire owners don't listen to Joe public, they're above that. You're having a laugh right? The Premiership couldn't wait to get us out of that league so they didn't have to deal with it. Look at the Saudi takeover at Newcastle, nothing to see here, other than ££££££££.
  20. You were fully aware of the training ground being removed from the clubs books?
  21. In terms of the proof being in the pudding and future meetings, you’ve fallen at the first hurdle 1864, they’ve transferred the training ground to a bogus company and you knew nothing about it. I’m not attacking you, I’m just point out they’re already keeping you in the dark and for me that’s unacceptable.
  22. Now we're £140m in debt with many 1st team players out of contract. Bad advice?
