  1. Your first line is spot on, I couldn't agree more. I agree with him, the gulf between Premiership clubs coming down and mid table clubs like us is massive, he's just being honest. Look at the teams that went up last season, look at the teams that will go up this season, but budgets, big wages and flush with Premiership money. We can't pay the wages of a poor loan signings that nobody else wants, the taps been turned off. As for the list of managers, both McCarthy and Houghton have just been fired after disastrous tenures with clubs plummeting towards league one, Mowbray has us mid table, a position both those managers would have given right arms for. Nothing wrong with an ambitious manager, I agree with you islander, we deserve better, much better.
  2. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/19695918.queens-platinum-jubilee-blackburn-bid-city-status/ From a very selfish point of view I'd rather us remain a small town who's football team has regularly punched above its weight, but I know city status would open up a whole host of opportunities for the town and its communities. Good luck.
  3. He isn't alienating large parts of the fanbase DMTP, hardly a dissenting voice according to fans at the game on Wednesday. Mowbray will keep us in this league, mid table is our level whether people like it or not and he'll continue to achieve that even with the smallest inexperienced squad I can ever remember at Ewood. The bottom line is the owners are the problem, not the manager.
  4. Correct Marton, my apologies I thought he'd been fired, Barnsley could do with him back and quick! We were beaten by the best side in the division on Wednesday, played most of the game with 10 men. Last Saturday 1500 Rovers fans bounced up the motorway with 3 points from Derby on the back of 3 points in the last home game, its hardly a serious decline but I understand the knee jerk after a trouncing.
  5. Keep clutching Mercer, you're bound to get one right eventually 😃
  6. The past 10yrs has proven that despite constant managerial changes the club continues to decline JH, not bolstering a notion, its there for everyone to see. We've had CEO after CEO and manager after manager, its not hard to see that the problems are in Pune not Blackburn, but change the manager, you never know unless you try. But a word of caution, the posters on here tonight wanted the Barnsley manager last season, he's on the scrap heap, Chris Houghton too and lets not forget Mick McCarthy, Mark Robbin will be next..... Mowbray has outlasted all of those managers, done a far better job than them all. Treading water is acceptable to me until we get rid of these owners, Mowbray is a steady hand until that day comes.
  7. Thanks chaddy. The fans are clearly still on his side, despite the feeding frenzy on here. Let hope he and the team rewards that loyalty tomorrow and we thump the blunts.
  8. I wasn't at Ewood on Wednesday, thankfully...... From the Tv coverage I never heard a dissenting voice other than the usual booing? Granted most of the fans had seen sense and left by the final whistle, but can anyone that went confirm if the crowd turned on the manager? Cheers.
  9. How times have changed...... Once upon a time you'd have gone to The Beechwood on Livesey Branch Road straight after the game to tell them they're shit. It always struck me how some of the players got in there before the fans had walked up the hill from the ground.
  10. The point I would make is he's the Chairman of Yorkshire CCC, he needed to show strong leadership and he failed to do so. That strong leadership should have started with firing Gary Balance, but its clear the first steps taken where to try and cover it up and just hope it went away. Yorkshire is an extremely diverse county, much like Lancashire and this will have ramifications for many years to come.
  11. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59172267 The Yorkshire chairman has now resigned, still blaming others as he walks (ECB). I'm sure its no coincidence that hitting them in the pocket (Suspending England matches at Headingley) was the straw that broke the camels backs.......
  12. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/59169535 Its hard to understand what the thinking is in the Headingley corridors of power. Instead of coming out in support of the former player, they’ve closed rank and refused to accept the findings. Well they’re now suspended from hosting England games until they can prove they’re upholding the standards acceptable. What a mess.
  13. Its a very good point booth, we have no idea what these owners will leave us with when they finally sod off. The cost cutting and penny pinching in most areas tells me they'll not be taking any debt with them. The positive we do have is we are Blackburn Rovers, the famous Blackburn Rovers who won the Premiership in 1995, Jack Walker, Alan Shearer, Kenny Dalglish, blue and white halves and in normal times recognised and respected the world over. The football club means something to many people, we just need to stop rot, need to stop the damage being inflicted season after season by absent owners. We will come again, we just need a change of ownership, once that happens the shoots of recovery start. Keep the faith.
  14. Paul Lambert had the same, I felt at the time he was better than we could have hoped for (Under a transfer embargo due to FFP) with the the money the club was offering to pay prospective managers and the shit show they're coming into. Lambert soon realised that the club was a mess, the owners refused to engage on contract renewals, the transfer budget was slashed to nothing when we came out of FFP, the project he presented in his interview wasn't achievable and he walked away. Mowbray is just another symptom, Venkys are the disease.
  15. The clubs already in the abyss booth, a new manager, even a lucky one, can't work with no footballing people to support him, no scouting network, staff leaving for glamour clubs like Salford City, no funding to pay contracts, not money for even the poorest loan signings, a refusal to engage, the place is a dysfunctional cabal. Venkys out.
  16. Bang on Parson. Its not as if the fans have been inpatient, we've tried new CEO's, we've supported new managers and coaches for the last 11yrs. The latest one is the fans are talking to the club, things are improving, but no mention of selling the club to some dodgy company 6months after trying to sell to Mcalpine for houses.....its already a sham. This club doesn't improve until Venkys leave, spot on.
  17. If posters do a quick 'find and replace' on Revs post above - find Mowbray and replace with Venkys we'll be somewhere near the real reason the clubs in the shit. If we brought in Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff tomorrow, we'd still have: No club structure No scouting network No footballing people running the club Out of contract players No transfer budget Youth team players filling gaps in the senior squad Wages way beyond our income (They've been here for 11yrs FFS, time enough to get books under control) The ground would still be dump The commercial dept still wouldn't pick up the phone from local business offering sponsorship. Dodgy deals with training ground The list just goes on and on..... Yes the product on the pitch isn't great, yes the manager isn't great, but don't be fooled by this narrative that Venkys are keeping us afloat, pumping millions in, they're killing this club and will continue to do so whilst posters like Rev look the other way.
  18. The bastards can't take away our memories 47er and what memories! Who would have ever dreamed of the success this club has had, from a small deprived Lancashire cotton, becoming the kings of England. We'll come again, no doubt about that.
  19. I think the football league had banned away fans at Chelsea and closed the terracing for a period of time after the play off game with Boro at the end of the previous season, it was like a battle ground for most of the game I seem to recall.
  20. He'd probably tell us he was a revelation, they all piss in the same pot. Anderson was never off sky telling them lies about sleeping on the floor at Brockhall, they lapped it up 😤
  21. One of the best previews I've seen on here rog, superb stuff, thanks for taking the time and effort.
  22. Rovers fan in the crowd looking delighted at Butlers brilliance for the run out. Looks like England’s game now.
  23. England lose 3 quick wickets against Sri Lanka, now we'll see what this side is really made of. Time for Morgan to step up.
