Mowbray, the summer and beyond
Gav replied to TheRovers1994's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You should read the posts before jumping in. "1 goal in 8 games" Sack him "I’ve had enough of rewarding failure at the club" Sack him Nobody mentioned funds, just failure, did you want them sacked? -

Putting things into perspective, because we’ve been through the tough times, you must have hated Saxton and Don during 80’s? We always fell short after Christmas, because we had a mid/lower table budget, nothing has changed other than the assumption we are still a big cheese in English football when Venkys have proved we are not... -

Five months in the top 6 must be awful for you Tyrone. What the hell has happened to this site? When did success, all be it under these Venky rats, be seen as failure? This season is the best season we've had under Venkys and the manager is getting pelters? -

The last open secret was Mowbray was being sacked in April 21, then summer 21, now he’s safe in 22 😂 Not aimed at you J*B, but the Brockhall rumour mill is complete and utter bullshit with respect, but I think this ones a safe bet without insider information. -

Its a social media thing roversfan99. Most of the fans that walk through the gates are behind him and behind the team and why wouldn't they be, after a season that has so far gone beyond anyone's wildest expectations and its not over yet. -

Them leaving is all that matters Tyrone, everything else is incidental. -

Not sure why we need a new thread here, not taking anything away from the first post, excellent stuff. Mowbray has been excellent this season, the players have been excellent and the fans that walk through the turnstiles have been excellent too. If we make the playoffs the manger deserves a new contract, sign him up. Venkys Out. -
Joe Root has acquired a head band….. What would Brian Close and Fred Truman have thought…….

Lets just agree the Telegraph are telling lies, thats probably easiest all round....
-
I never said he was at Stoke on £3m+ wages? Apologies if I gave that impression. That is what WE were quoted, as reported in Telegraph. Mowbray went for strikers, the money wasn't available, to bring this back to the original point.
-
Summer deal was a loan, then Bordeaux slapped a hefty price tag on him. As for Obefemi, we couldn't match the wages, it had nothing to do with moving North (Glad we never signed him, he looked awful against us even though he scored) It all boils down to lack of funding and we are where we are sadly. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/blackburn-rovers-provided-transfer-update-on-23-year-old-striker/ It means the striker is an attractive proposition for anyone who wants to bring in a forward this month – and Blackburn continue to be linked with his services. However, for any deal to be done during this window, it looks like Bordeaux want to get rid of the player permanently. The Lancashire Telegraph claims that they want some extra money this window and that the fee could be around £3m. The issue is whether Blackburn are prepared to pay not just for his services full-time but to pay such a significant fee without a player sale.
-
Maja was close to £3m+ wages I'm led to believe and Obafemi was out of our price range too. 2 strikers the manager has been chasing for a while, we couldn't afford either booth, thats all I'm saying.
-
We would have bought Obafemi who we chased all summer, or long term target Maja if the money had been available tomphil, we simply got priced out of both deals, thats very clear.
-
Excellent recovery by Bairstow, superb 100 under the circumstances supported by Foakes. Woakes could be a match winner for England in this pitch, get a few more to give him something to ball at.

We tried to sign Maja, but the owners refused to fund it. Obafemi was another, owners refused to fund it. Jack Walker wouldn’t have hid behind FFP, he’d have found a way to fund it. -

The sort of player that gets you off your seat, a player you'd pay the admission fee alone to watch. He still has plenty to learn as you say 47er, but he's an exciting talent for sure.
