  1. Well its official, Mowbray is a better manager to Warnock 😃 Boro looked awful today, tactically inept, where did the defence go for our goal? Onwards and upwards.
  2. Queueing for tickets: Rovers v Arsenal Preston plumber Match day at Mill Hill station Vulcan Pub Match day parking, picture taken from the top window at The Albion Pub.
  3. Not a great picture, but I think I can see you Tyrone, sat on the running track with a spam sandwich 👍
  4. Last word on the subject. You wanted him sacked because he put the admission prices up Jim, it had nothing to do with how much Jack paid him, which by the way, wasn’t enough for what he did for the club. Probably the best chairman in the clubs history, gave managers money to spend but balanced the books. We all get things wrong.
  5. Nothing I said was made up, you wanted John Williams sacked, as you acknowledge above. Apologies if that makes uncomfortable reading, we all get things wrong.
  6. You got bored of John Williams, Jim, probably the best chairman we've ever had, you wanted him sacked and made no secret of it. Look where we are now..... I'd have him back tomorrow, to get rid of him was quite ridiculous.
  7. Public school boys, that’s posh in my book. But I agree, TMS is much better than TalkSh1te, awful radio station, even worse at cricket coverage as West Indies tour showed. Bring back Geoffrey.
  8. I'm missing Geoffrey on TMS. Michael Vaughan offers some respite for the Southern posh club, but not much....
  9. Was Ken in the special forces, army or something like that Mick? Or is that an urban legend, spread so you didn't mess about in his pub!
  10. Fans queueing on Bridge Street off to Ewood
  11. Ken Pilling landlord of The Merchants Hotel - One for the older posters
  12. Mick Mcgrath scoring in FA Cup 6th Round at burnley
  13. I know its a football thread but imagine watching Rovers in the afternoon and nipping to King Georges in the evening to watch these newcomers!
  14. This is a superb picture, we may have seen it in this thread, but well worth seeing it again. Someone has suggested the reason for the walking masses: At 1:00pm on Saturday 2nd November 1946, tram and bus crews of Blackburn Corporation went on strike, which meant everyone had to walk to Ewood that afternoon to watch the Rovers play Liverpool
  15. Anyone who arrived at Blackburn station or left on route to away games will have come across this:
  16. Tommy Briggs for some of the older posters, with the Blackburn badge on his blazer.
  17. Disagreeing is fine 👍 Waggot is a million times better than Agnew, Shaw and Singh who weren't squeezing money out of the fans (Fans have a choice to pay or don't pay) They were feathering their own nests at the expense of the club and its staff. Things are much improved since then in my opinion.
  18. I agree with that Hoochie. But I believe winning football matches starts at the ticket office window and works its way finally to the players on the pitch. You need the foundations right for the club to flourish, we've had rotten foundations since Venkys walked through the door. I believe Mowbray has tried to firm up those foundations, its a start, but we've a long way to go.
  19. Sadly you've missed the point by a country mile Blue Blood, maybe take a step back, read what is written before putting the size 12's firmly on the mouth. The football club was once run on sounds morals/values and real football ethos with the fans and community at its heart, thats been missing since Venkys took over. I believe Mowbray has brought some of that ethos back, it’s not perfect, but it’s on the right track.
  20. I particularly liked this bit: “I hope that I’ve brought a football mentality, I bring values to a club, I live my life by a certain set of values and I’m from a working class family and I know what’s right and wrong and how to deal with life and that’s what they get from me, open and honesty, and that’s what my team get from me as well. After the likes of King Rat, Coyle, Agnew, Singh and Shaw we must never under estimate what bringing a footballing mentality and morals back to the club actually means. Its not the sexy part, most wouldn't give it a second thought, but bringing this ethos back to the club is a massive challenge after pillage and plunder by the scumbags above, but a challenge Tony Mowbray has succeeded in doing in my opinion and hopefully will set us up long term, as long as the next appointment isn't another disaster....
  21. The Mrs says its the best thing she has seen on Tv for years, I may give it a go myself.
  22. After I insisted we watched The Night Stalker on Netflix, superb by the way. The Mrs has insisted I watch The Queen's Gambit - 4 episodes in, very good as TS says above.
  23. You could be right, we’ll never know. It’s just another example of why we will never go up under Venky ownership.
  24. I know this isn't a question for me 99, but my take on that question is this: I said a few weeks ago that replacing Mowbray depends on which camp you fall into. One camp believe that we should be playoff and promotion candidates, get rid now if thats the case, he's had enough time and isn't taking us up. The camp I'm in believe we will never go up while we have Venkys running the show, replacing the manager will make no difference in terms of promotion, but we could go down. Its as simple as that for me.
