  1. I think it’s likely the list is nonsense - I was just shared it on Twitter, it may well be bullshit! Would love to see an accurate one.
  2. Championship player salaries. Death by 1,000 cuts, it’s all directly related back to the owners.
  3. Doesn’t have to be from Lancashire and doesn’t have to be a Rovers fan, but does have to understand the area, culture and mindset of Blackburn as a place.
  4. I’d be pretty confident that if we went into admin and ended up in league two, with the right *LOCAL* owner we’d be back as a Championship club within 5 years, with 17K ST holders and there would be a huge feel good factor around the club.
  5. “Steve, we’re delighted you’ve come to the interview! So, here’s what we’ve got. We will pay you less than average salary, you’ll have next to no transfer budget and the wages will be 18th highest in the league. Hopefully you can keep us up and develop our players so we can sell them to pay off the debt. You interested?”
  6. Markanday is absolutely awful. He’s no business wearing the Rovers shirt and should be shipped out of loan on January 1st. Offers absolutely zero. Garrett isn’t much better - certainly is no better than Travis, who does the same job as him significantly better.
  7. Absolutely. All goes back to the owners. They’re the problem, they always have been, they always will be.
  8. The transfer policy that has seen him short at goalkeeper, right back, left back, left wing, right wing, central attacking midfield and striker? I wouldn’t imagine he’s too keen on it
  9. Would be a hell of a lot of work. Venkys use Government contacts to create freezing of assets and a high court legal case in order to avoid investing 3-5M into a football club they’ve already invested 250M into.
  10. Well, of course you can force someone to stay if they have a contract. But by doing so, you’ll: Disconnect all your other players - ‘they didn’t let X leave when a premier league club came in, so they won’t let me either if one comes in’ Upset the player you’re forcing to stay, likely leading to knock on effects ie refusing to play, faking injuries, going against the manager. Premier League wages are much more than we can offer and the opportunity to gain a big move increases by playing PL football. Ruin your chances of signing other players - I saw what you did with Y and I don’t want the same to happen to my career. The player will just leave for free when their contract runs out. The reason nobody does it is because the cons outweigh the pros.
  11. Completely agree, Gav. The manager asked for experience in summer, you don’t succeed with an average playing age of 23. Far too much inexperience combined with a squad not big enough to be competitive.
  12. Protest flyer on my Facebook 7 years ago today. Imagery from 5 days later. Nothing has changed, this club still has a noose around its neck because of the owners.
  13. You can’t stop a championship player leaving if a premier league club want them
  14. We watched different games. When Ennis was taken off at 60’ and replaced with Leonard, the Watford defenders quickly realised there was now only a one dimensional threat coming forward and pushed up 10-15 yards. That was the main reason we lost - we were pushed further back and put under increased pressure, then we eventually cracked. Leonard could turn out to be a player, but desperately needs an EFL loan for me. As it stands he’s not strong enough, not quick enough and doesn’t convert enough of his chances. It’s not his fault — he shouldn’t have been put in this situation and wouldn’t have been if our owners hadn’t got themselves in trouble with the law.
  15. I can’t imagine a world where I’d start Markanday. Assuming Szmodics is fit I’d go below and apologies profusely to S. Wharton who doesn’t deserve to be dropped. Leo; Hill, Carter, Hyam, Pickering; Wharton Tronstad; Siggy, Szmodics, Moran; Ennis.
  16. Have you not been keeping up with the last 6 or so months?
  17. Only because they’re under investigation for fraud and money laundering!
  18. Can’t afford to fuck ‘em Gooz. Need to keep them onside and convert them in STs if there’s any chance of progression.
  19. Entirely predictable, sadly. Based on the ~10 or so people brought back to Rovers around us today at 60 minutes everyone was talking about what players Wharton and Tronstad are, at 90 minutes they’re all saying “same old Rovers”, “they always let you down” and “see you in 3 months”. Can’t see many of the 8K walk ons coming back this Christmas. Sadly the team and the manager are let down by the ownership. Have been for years now and the reoccurring cycle will continue under Venkys.
  20. I'd love to be in the Premier League, but not at the expense of being competitive. The gap between the 'big' clubs and 'the rest' is widening like never before, lower level clubs (especially Northern ones) just cannot compete with (mostly) foreign billions. I'd be much happier to see the back of Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City, Man United, Chelsea, Newcastle, Spurs to a European Super League and have a 20-team Premier League. It would be far more competitive and Rovers could realistically have a place at that level. We're absolutely miles off being competitive at the top level nowadays, as Burnley, Luton and Sheff Utd are proving. Ask your local Dingle how much fun they're all having this year - the answer is they're not!
  21. The best thing that can happen is - much like players going to Saudi - football lets anyone interested go and doesn't let them back. Football in this country would be significantly better without the lot of em.
  22. On course for circa 15.5K home fans at the moment. 1K away.
