  1. I seem to remember reading a few pages back that the lad himself wasn't over keen on the move. I wonder if that was conjecture or if there's something in it?
  2. As I'm exiled on the other side of the world I'm quite jealous that I'm missing out of this lad - I'm back home for Christmas, knowing my luck he'll be bloody injured!
  3. The only 'risk free' transfer I can think was Ronaldo from Utd to Real Madrid. You'd need the equivalent of a small country's GDP to get a player in on minimal risk these days. If we pay circa 6-8 million quid for Brereton that seems about right in the current febrile market. I'll be quite excited if it comes off, he seems a real prospect, has successfully represented his country, attracted the attention of some very big clubs and is said to have power, pace and ability. So what if we splurge some of the owner's dough? Those bastards have denuded the club of it's status, reputation, dignity and finances so they owe us big style. Lets hope Waggott and Mowbray get this over the line before the arse falls out of the Indian chicken market and Venkys pull the plug. If we get this kid in I'd suggest that the naysayers stop navel gazing and enjoy the moment.
  4. TM's 600th game as a manager! I remember him as a centre back at Boro so now I feel quite old. On a more positive note, I'm very happy that Rovers are in a position to benefit from that kind of experience.
  5. Those who remember Agnew will also remember the club taking a punt on bringing a young Geordie up from the south coast. 95% of transfers have a degree of risk.
  6. Would that reason be because he's 19 and not necessarily reflective of his ability? Let`s get this lad in in before Venkys shares take a nose dive and we`re back to rummaging through the reject bin to pad out squad numbers.
  7. He has lots of form for this. For example, he constantly described Phil Jones as a 'dud' (he appears to have a problem with young players coming through the ranks) then said he was going to be "The next Bobby Moore" and "The next Duncan Edwards" when Jones joined the Stretford Rags.
  8. Joe Nuttall, Harry Chapman, Joe Rothwell - are we trying to assemble a team of grandads? Anyway good luck to the lad. Who`s his agent by the way?
  9. I used to have a favourite toy as a child that would repeat the same thing when I pulled its chord. Isn't life cyclical?
  10. A little variant on 'not' there, replacing it with 'ain't'. Very street 'Abs'.
  11. Tell it that you aren't biting and to STFU.
  12. Good news. Maybe a couple more could persuade Hanley to give it another season?
  13. It may well be your prerogative, I did not suggest otherwise. You've obviously seen quite a lot of Danny Graham to be so dismissive of him. Anyone would think you were baring a grudge for some reason. You would have thought so. There's a couple who need to dry their eyes though. They remind me of my 9 year old self when Dave Wagstaffe left.
  14. Why? Graham has a very solid record at our level, I hope we sign him. He had a good game yesterday by some accounts and offers something different to Rhodes in that he can play with his back to goal and has the strength to have the ball 'stick' with him. Very thinly veiled barbs aimed at players that we have now do you no credit in my opinion.
  15. Amidst all the hoo ha of deadline day the efforts of the Youth team shouldn't go unnoticed. Tonight they came from behind to beat Villa away 2-1. Last minute winner takes Rovers to the 1/4 finals. Brilliant effort, well done lads!
  16. Thanks for your very reasoned reply which glossed over me posting on the wrong thread! You're quite right as well.
  17. We aren't going down. Not a chance. End of.
  18. No multiple stepovers, no rabonas, no showboating just great balance, close control and the ability to accelerate away from his opponent. What a player. Did he make his debut as a 17 year old against Leicester in the last game of the season? I seem to remember his introduction being overshadowed by a young lad who looked like a cross between Frank Bruno and Linford Christie. Emille Heskey trampled all over us that day and bagged a couple as they beat us 4-2. Of course, that could all be nonsense as I'm sure somebody will point out. I also have a vague memory of him playing up front with Kevin Gallacher in what must have been Rovers most diminutive forward partnering?
  19. http://www.thefa.com/news/competitions/fa-youth-cup/2015/dec/round-up-081215 Enjoy!
  20. Wasn't there some buy back clause whereby Barca have first refusal should the lad prove a success and move on?
