I think cutting the wage bill is his prime objective. Reinvesting a % of sale proceeds makes sense to an accountant if it reduces your ongoing running costs. I very much doubt he views the football club as anything other than a project upon which to impose his “lean” philosophy. Everything he does is predicated on cost cutting. He views new players in the way a finance director will spend on a new printer if it uses less ink than the old one. Don’t be fooled.

I interviewed him for the 4000 Holes podcast ahead of the Watford fan takeover game (remember when we used to do stuff like that?). Anyhow, I found him to be extremely likeable. Grounded, intelligent, articulate & perhaps dare I say it...introverted for a modern day footballer. A lot has happened since then & if he's only been offered an extension on existing terms after playing every single minute last season I'd be fairly hacked off with my employers too...

These are very different pieces. A lot more work involved in manufacturing these. I’m not exaggerating to say the quality is up there with Ralph Lauren Polo & GANT…👌 By way of comparison…

FWIW - on here I start at 6 being the base line of a competent performance. Anything higher than that indicates there were memorable/significant interventions in the game. Below 6 indicates memorable/significant errors/mistakes/ineffectiveness… I may well be treating it too scientifically…😆
