We tried to start something a few years ago using material supplied by Harry Berry but changes in personnel in BRFCS Towers slowed it down then a software upgrade killed it off completely. We have the technical capability to resurrect it…just needs contributors… Rob Sawyer has been on our podcast. His mum was a Rovers fan from Blackburn. We’re his 2nd team. He wrote a book on Keith Newton a while back.

The one off shirt was being discussed in April 2024. They ignored many of our suggestions for this season’s kits though so who knows what will emerge… I expect the blue to be dark & the Maltese Cross to feature…

This is an exciting project for us…it kind of takes the “Mount Rushmore” theme on here & injects it with steroids! It’s possibly important to emphasise the “tells the story” element here - in other words it’s not just the best players, indeed it’s not just players. There are many other actors in the Rovers story who have influenced the tale for better or worse…without taking the field. What we do with the final list is the subject of much discussion but the possibility of a special 4000 Holes edition - perhaps even a book (there’s an idea eh?) &/or other merchandise possibilities are all on the table. Please do get involved over the next few weeks…🤍💙

Throughout this thread several posts have highlighted what was suggested by e.g. WATR. My view (again FWIW) is that (as @Parsonblue) highlighted - marking the league game closest to the anniversary is fine. Personally I think tacking on the extra match (especially in this form) is no more than paying lip-service to the idea of a celebration…it’s half-arsed. A pre-season friendly against say Athletic Bilbao would have been a great way to kick off (!) the celebratory season. The book in principle sounds great…but like many on here I fear for the quality/content & independence of the editorial. A special shirt again - sounds great, but I’ll keep my powder dry until I’ve actually seen it. In summary Chaddy - it’s less about the “what” but more about the “how” the club does things these days…

I did 1988/90 before moving with work to Birmingham. Wormwood Scrubs on a Sunday morning was quite the thing!

FWIW my take is that by tacking on a “celebratory match” of this dubious quality is symptomatic of the typically half-arsed efforts of the current regime who seem to know the price of everything & the value of nothing. The constant tinkering of the home kit to make it look more like a Grasshoppers or Feyenoord variant, the removal of the historic timeline outside Ewood, the shockingly bad 150th merchandise…the overwhelming sense is that nobody in charge cares enough. A match to celebrate the 150th…against a team that actually beat us in an FA Cup final…it just feels…shoddy.

I’m guessing this was posted before half time…this was my prediction after 30 minutes…👀
