We can only pin any sort of hope now on BBD and Dack hitting the ground running ASAP. I still believe we are not going to concede many and history shows Dack WILL score goals. Unfortunately I think it will be too little too late. For my absolute fury at lack of strikers and Sam Gallaghers weak performances, the defence like for the vast majority of playing 5 at the back looked superb again.

We've got far bigger problems than Buckley but put Dack in his place for some of those sitters he has had this season and I reckon we are 6-10 points better off.

What are the chances Nyambe has already signed a contract elsewhere? I mean I'm not in the know but surely he could have signed one for somebody else already as under the rules he is perfectly entitled to.

For me not adding a striker after finding out Markanday was out for the season literally put a gun to our own head. I still cannot forget the feeling as the window closed and we hadn't begged, stole or borrowed any striking options and thought surely Brereton can't keep scoring goal after goal. I hear Mowbray talk about needing to keep encouraging the young players and them being a bit naive. I actually think the vast majority of the team are still doing their jobs as well as before this slump. The club/manager has stitched up the team by not giving them a goal scorer to help.

Agree with the point about the Swans defence, it shows a flaw in us not playing an out and out striker when their defence can give the ball away 35 yards from their goal on multiple occasions and they aren't punished.

There is a clear blueprint to have success against us and it is to sit deep and give us the ball. Charging deep runs from Rothwell and Khadra become impossible, and getting it out wide whipping balls in is only effective when our centre halves are in the box. Them going down to 10 yesterday killed us, we just ended up playing from a standing position and everybody getting in each others way. Khadra and Giles being on the same side was absolutely pointless as they were both there to play the final ball. It all just looked so disorganised, highlighted by 4 players trying to take a throw with 10 minutes to go. As a few others have said playing better teams who will attack may actually be the best thing for us in the upcoming games.

We are stronger now than we were in August, when I dare say the majority of us thought we would be relegated/in a battle this season. Financially for us it hasn't helped that our highest earner and probably best players hasn't kicked a ball for us for a year.

Completely agree, we would be very strong going forwards if our big centre halves started getting onto corners and free kicks at the other end. If we can pick up an extra 5-8 goals from those guys until the season ends it could be huge.

Well if Rothwell does end up being off Bournemouth have done a hell of a job sabotaging our promotion push from a far. If I wasn't a Rovers fans I'd say they played a masterstroke. I still think it will go through for what it's worth.

Of course not, they can get better elsewhere obviously be it financially or in footballing terms. If we want to keep them we offer the best we can, I would hope. As a club losing vast sums annually it would seem others can offer better deals financially.

I don't know, neither do you. What I'm saying is that we both agree the model of improving and selling is the only way forward. So I'm as flummoxed as you as to why we don't sell the players before their contracts run down. Which leads me to think we don't get offers!

I'm struggling here with what you think happens? We sign player X on a 4 year deal and turn down offers in years 1,2,3 so they can leave for free? Then in year 4 we offer them reduced terms to guaranteethey leave for free? The players haven't performed well enough consistently to earn a paid move, be that the player or managers fault.

I must just be imagining we lose £350-400k per week. We have a ceiling of what we can offer players, if they can get better elsewhere off they pop. Unfortunately until this season the players have not played to the quality that has commanded a fee, as surely our model is to sell rather than lose for nothing.

We literally sold our training ground to our owners a few months ago to save ourselves from going into one. We haven't sold a player, started gaining 30k weekly crowds or gained a huge new sponsor infact our sponsorship collapsed last week. So yes I very much think we are in transfer embargo territory in the near future.

Great post, completely fair on all parties. We have absolutely no idea what has gone on behind closed doors, the tapping up rule is not followed by any agent, so as soon as we make an offer the shithouse agents set to work and fill a players head with their "worth". Let's not forget whilst we are in a great position in the league we are also staring down the barrel of a transfer embargo too. We clearly can't offer as much in wages as a lot of clubs.

From the TM interview he was clear Rothwell goes on our (the owners) terms, in line that WE source replacements first. The owners have been stubborn buggers from day one, against us and certainly against people trying to buy our players. To be fair to the player he hasn't asked to stay at home today, Mowbray felt it would be a tough game and him having a stinker could reflect badly. £6m does seem extremely high for somebody with only 6 months left, if the right replacements are in place it suits all. If we don't have the replacements in place £6m is worthless with all the injuries we have in play and the great chance we have this season to go up.
